Good Day,

I Installed an Texecom Premier elite alarm system and I would like to know how long an 12 Volt 18Ah will last if the power went off. And should a 50va 16Volt Transformer be enough

Here is my alarm specs.

13X PIR Detectors
6X Door Switches
9X Panic Buttons
8X Fire Detectors
3X Dual Beam outdoor beams
2X LCD Keypads

1X RF ADT communicator
1X GSM Communicator
1X 30watt Siren
2X Sound Bombs
1X Remote Reciever.

A quick look at the list and there's more than I would put on one panel, would have used a power supply expander.

Do you have expander units or is everything crammed on that panel.

You also appear to have no external sounder or have some of the list missing.

 

As for your question it's not as simple as listing the parts, we would need to know standby and alarm current for all the components or the system.

This is an important step to commissioning the panel upon completion.

All dependant on power consumption as stated above,

We don't use 17ah, they always fail too early

Use 2x Yuasa/Genesis 10ah instead of 2x7ah, they are same footprint but slightly taller

Failure rate is massive lower than 17/18ah, within a short time they do drop to 11-13ah or less.

Corrected thanks yes two 10ah 

You shouldn't have two batteries on Texecom controls any more only the PSU's.

Splitting battery output without separate monitoring doesn't conform

Texe have a battery splitter but only works on pre-Elite.

 

Will have to look at 10Ah batteries maybe handy on some jobs.

Failure rate on 17Ah's unacceptable.

I believe they accumulate lead sulfate quickly when charged on an alarm panel, I have recovered a few failures (IBT read ~7Ah) with a motorcycle battery conditioner, they're now in a UPS.

Yes, that's the compliant way to do it.

With you already mentioning a separate PSU, That's why I said go for 2x 10Ah.

 

The 10Ah's are what we majority use in Elite's & PSU200XP Expanders. 

Not had a duff one yet, You will also need bigger crimps on battery leads.
