12V Ac Spike Suppressor

Featured Replies

Hi sparky relatively new to alarms would you fit these as standard or just if you get problems and would you use screened cable ,thanks

the spike suppressors tend to be fitted in the panel and aren't expensive so it would be up to you. I always carry a few just in case but if your not fitting many alarms then the chances of you needing them are slim. as long as you keep your mains cable and alarm cable segregated then there shouldn't be any need to use screened cable. you can cross mains cables at 90 degrees without any worry at all. if the alarm cables have to run with mains at times just keep it to a minimum.

Personally i would not bother with them and where possible screened cable is always the better shout.

if you do have major issues with induced ac just strap the panel, million times better results and no need for an additional part no materr how little they cost.

It would depend on the alarm, wouldn't fit spiky as standard and wouldn't normally used screened cable either

Depends on equipment to, if manufacturer has a poor design then you them, normally always on version 1 as they say, otherwise rubbish
