Certifications For Installing Fire Detectors

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am aware that to install a fire alarm system a certification from FIA is needed, now I have noticed alot of electricians do domestic fire systems on a ring but I guess at least part p would be needed as this would need to be fed from a dedicated circuit on the distribution board.

Now the question is do you need any certifications e.g. FIA or Bafe to install a 12v smoke or heat detector to the fire zones on an intruder alarm system in a domestic property?

I actually thought dedicated domestic smoke alarm MCBs were discouraged because if they trip, there is no reason for the householder to do anything about it, unlike if it was shared with the lights, when they would prob fix it ASAP...

I thought fire is unregulated meaning there's no real rules or law to stop anyone doing anything except you follow a British standard , after that if you want insurance to except it they will want a level of installation according to the bs standard and some say nsi or ssaib

Intruder you can connect what you want if no certs needed even councils around here give multi tenancy licenses based upon visual inspection a receipt to say its installed and your done

Or you will get done lol

And some star trek acico stuff!

Or did I read that wrong?

I know what you're saying, but they will on a brand new installation, and I thought it was those the advice was aimed at.

Also, if people do let the batteries run down and not replace, with a dedicated MCB it's even easier to just turn the whole lot off

to stop the 'annoying bleeping', so that's another good reason to have them on the same MCB as something people can't do without.
