is there anything i can test on the board with a multi meter??

Yes, the voltage at the detectors and at the panel, for a start.

thanks will check voltages at sensors and on the panel in morning and report back as im not really sure what readings  im looking for  :)

would google & alarm installer "your area" be some much easier ?

i imagine it would be easier yeah, and cost  a fair bit of cash i dont have.

 

tested the voltage at the sensors and its jumping arounbd all over the place,whats the next port of call???

checked voltage at board at all places i can see... pic attached 3 showing a solid 13.5 volts ish the other is jumping about between 7& 8 same as at the sensors

It looks like your 12v and 0v is connected wrong. Shouldnt that black wire be in 0v?

Is the black wire connected to set + or 0v?
