Nah, don't believe it - unless you have damaged them during the install.  It's more likely that the suspect keypads aren't as tolerant to your unstable bus / voltages.

I have never had a faulty galaxy out of a box in 5 years of fitting them

We had a spate of flickering keypads a few years ago, but nothing else.

I've seen a few panels with RS485 bus damage due to bad installation.  +12V on the data lines.  Have also seen a batch of keypads built incorrectly in China. This caused the LED's to be very bright and shine through the plastics around the membrane. These still worked, but would light up the room at night.

 

All normally very reliable - with the exception of a few firmware issues which could do with being fixed.

They do have firmware issues though, you mess around with them enough they will play up , otherwise stable

Mind you I seen someone short out the 485 on to 12vs pop a fuse and panel survived
