Accenta Lcd Rkp - Display Blank

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a problem with an Accenta LCD RKP.

Whilst on holiday the power tripped and eventually the alarm battery drained.

On resetting the power I have the alarm system back up and running however the LCD display on both remote keypads is showing black squares.

The keypad itself and alarm system appear to work fine but obviously with no functioning display.

This setup is simply a mini G4 with 2 LCD Keypads.

Hopefully there is a simple fix but I’ve not come across this before.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Richard

Did you power it back up with the flat battery connected. A completely drained battery will be damaged. If its now took charge have you powered it down and back up cleanly

as above these panels do like mains on before battery, this means you have little option than to have the panel lid open. please beware of the internal mains fuss block and your straying little pinky.

for best safety, disconnect battery remove then restore power from the mains spur fuse unit (or plug) feeding AC power to the controls (that should be near it and marked).

If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

Thanks guys.

Yeah the the power was simply reset, assuming everything would come back up and battery would recharge.

When I get back there I'll fully disconnect and power up on mains only first.

Thanks again.

Sorry to revive a very old thread, but if the battery is flat is there no way of reviving it? Only option is to buy a new one?

SLA batteries are rechargeable but they have a lifecycle, deep discharges can damage them internally.

The control panel if working correctly will keep the battery charged at an ideal rate.

Generally a well maintained system will have it's charging rate and voltage checked annually and batteries replaced at 4-5 year intervals.

Its sealed unlike a car battery so there is no fix for it. Replace it is one option, but if you dont like your neighbours you could not bother with a battery at all, then in every powercut the external sounder will sound and upset them. Or if you like to gamble you could just leave the battery in the panel may catch fire, it may not. To be fair never heard of one catching fire in a house (an engineers van caught fire recently due to old batteries) but there is always a first time. If you dont like the sound of those options you should either, replace the battery, get the alarm serviced, or decommission the system completely
