Hi. Lone Worker Device Advice Wanted.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am looking for some advice on a lone worker device.

I would like a device that would telephone a series of numbers until one is answered in the event that the lone worker presses a panic button or becomes inactive (possibly unconscious). I would prefer the device to phone other workers (who are in a nearby building) rather than involving a central monitoring station. I would like a dedicated device, not an app on a mobile phone.

The system must use the mobile network as there is no landline at the location.

The lone worker is factory based and his location is known, so I don't need GPS to tell me where he is.

Can anyone recommend anything?

Paul

There are a few options but we supply them as part of a managed system they won't work without it

Hi James, thank you for your reply.

In this case I don't think that a managed system would add anything other than an extra step in the communication chain. I would prefer the device to phone the other workers directly so that they can check on the lone worker quickly and provide any necessary assistance.

Paul, just be catious as your relying 100% on the device to be ok, there is no polling that way to alert of all the issues that would prevent it functioning

With the corporate manslaughter stuff I certainly wouldn't want a self monitoring system. If it fails it would be my neck on the block. The managed service ones I've got a pro checking them and a someone elses neck on the block if it all goes wrong. For the peanuts these systems cost, why would anyone want a self monitoring system?

you could fit a stand alone system, small control panel with a scantronic lw tx and rx,the pyronix gsm dialler would do what your after, its all down to your ra,tho id advise you get an alarm co in to fit and maintain it.

alarm co? or a specialist lone worker co?

who ever he wants..if his ra states a basic lone worker system an intruder panel with the right bits would do what he requires..

yes it would but its not a system designed for the purpose. Its an intruder alarm that can do x.

My point was that as an industry its a jack of all trades, master of none.

Lone working is a specialist job on its own imo.

And tested each time it is used !!

lets hope thats oftn enough.

the days of 'it worked fine guv when i last tested it' have gone. especially from an insurance point of view.
