Looks like a doorbell transformer to me, but I agree. It's bloody lazy sticking the speaker next to the panel too!

Could be worse... Sound bomb in the panel with no battery, is not unknown.

I do agree best to install away from the panel if possible. Would normally disconnect the built-in one in this case.

what about when panels had the speakers inside them..

 Disconnect and put one remotley.   But I do see your point.

Actually you can see some mains dropping in from the FCU, so you are probably correct.

However my stance stays the same and speakers well away from the panel.

The keypads do the speech on the 1070 hybrid, but the quantum is like the visonic / enforcer etc in that regard as its built into the panel. You could disable it and put a wireless keypad in instead for the speech mind.
