Alarm System Best Practices

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

What are the best practices for the rearm count and alarm duration? Also do you let the strobe continue flashing or not?

cheers!

Law on noise abatment gives you a limit on rearms- unless its in the middle of nowhere.

Strobe now is timed IIRC.

Mind you the one across the road has been flashing for years :D

Rearm 3 bell and strobe timer 15 mins.

3 rearms = 45 mins if a faulty detector.

Could equal noise abatement if neighbour is a prat. But I do prefer 3 rearms. (Your saying that as it dafaults at 3 :P)

15 minutes right? Does this mean I can have 3 rearms with a 5 minute bell :P

Yes, if to adhere strictly to noise laws. (Smart **** :proud: )

ah okay this makes sense, wasn't sure if it was 15 mins per activation or total :)

James, if you don't mind me asking, what's the name of the round bellbox you use? I used to live in a house with a secure it all alarm, but it had an Armour Flash bell box (I think) with a red/orange strobe... Looked really cool haha but I don't think they're even made anymore :(

External alarm duration is 15 minutes max.

IMO never leave the strobe flashing (lets the world know you have gone on holiday)

IMO about 3-5 re-arms is enough, if the re-arm counter gets to 3 while your away there's something wrong.

IIRC he uses a Ventcroft Vision. Used them a while back always liked them. Dinky strobe pattern.

But if you can afford it get a Rapier 6000, stainless steel rectangular roughly £110.

We did used to use the armourflash and vision. But they no longer make the white back so it lost the round look. Both the af and the vision were / are fine bells

Yeah thats the one! Ah Rapier 6000, I did look at those, unfortunitally it's out of my budget for SAB's... The whole generic rectangle blue and white bell boxes are boring :D

Thanks for the info guys!
