Customer Wants Service And Maint Contract

Apart from the keypads wearing out (can't really complain as they're over 20 years old!) the 98 is a rock solid panel. We have loads out there and they never cause any problems, but, and I've said it before, Scantronic have to be one of the most engineer unfriendly panels ever made. Ever tried walk testing a 9X5X panel where the installer hasn't put the zone number in the descriptor? Took a 9851 over last week with 30 zones like that and it was a nightmare! Stood there like a clown trying to count the zones as it scrolled through them with the panel still beeping its tits off.

Aaron, the 690 will give you 6 zones on the panel, with two additional zones in each keypad (of which you can have 4). I presume you can fit LEC2's on these panels in place of a keypad though?

I went off the 2500 after one fell over on me in a casino in the middle of Manchester a few years ago. Got it back up and running but my **** was twitching for a bit ;)

On Menvier topic how many zones can the 690 (not ID) take? Can you still get expanders? Got a site that needs 5 zones adding and not looked at the manual yet ;)

Few lecs on eBay shhhhhh

LEC`s or RKP`s 2 zones each max of 4.

All obselete now,

Change it for a M series, same menus so the customer wont get confused. But a big but blue backlit rkp and small text is not good for bad eyes.

Why I like the big Texe keypad for the partially sighted.

Yep! Tried to power it down but some nugget had commoned the + aswell as the - on all the PSU's which kept the panel on lol. Had to remove all the network fuses IIRC to get it to go off.

Got a big 2500 up in jbeye country that wants taking over. No descriptors or paperwork. All remote psu's have no link to panel for mains fails etc...... We ain't touching it unless customer accepts what's needed, which is proving a struggle so far. Not worth the heartache imo!

Just make a take over charge for putting all the paper work in place etc.
