Which Wireless System To Go For?

Featured Replies

Until the new Visonic stuff with Power G is released here, their existing powermax sensors are only one way. This means that the sensors can only SEND a signal to the panel and not RECIEVE signals from the panel. There is quite a big issue with the sensors only being one way and I know of one company local to me where this particular issue has got them into trouble in quite a big way. I cannot give too much info on here as to what the reason is as this is a public forum (I have applied for trade membership a while back, no word yet). But to put it simply 2 way is far better than 1 way.

PS I'm from Lisburn too !!!

The Castle sensors are dormant during unset and wake up when the panel is set, saving battery power. The panel wakes them up during the setting procedure.

Sensors to Panel - 1 way

Panel to Sensors - 2nd way

Texeecoms Ricochet kit is very good, and performs really well.

I have installed quite a few systems with it now, and expanded existing premier installs too.

The only thing i have found is that is deffo has bugs when connected to a premier 24.

No matter what software version you have, or flash the panel to it still does not run correctly.

We have tested this in several panels with mixed firmware and panels I have flash updated.

Before anyone asks, Yes i selected the correct dip switches to match the panel firmware.

Regards,

You have to disable EN50131 options, we were advised by Tex Tech Support

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

The powermax express is a two way panel but the only two way devices available are the keyfobs.

Nice panel though

2 way is essential IMO. It allows as shown above to shut sensors down completly in the unset state and no sleep timers when set / setting.

But the biggie for me is that it alows the sensor to know the alarm signal it sent has been recieved. And it can retry etc. 1 way radio just sends a burst and assumes/hopes one of them makes it. If it doesnt for whatever reason then no alarm. As with all wireless signal reception can change by the second. What was good signal today may not work at all tomorrow.
