  1. If menu option 23 is saying V1.0X, then it's a V1.0 and needs updating. All G2 PCB's can be brought up to the latest version.
  2. I preferred the nova 6 myself. The adjustable backplate with rotary slots and built-in spirit level is handy for tricky walls. The Texecom is low cost and loud, so ticks the box for many - Pro and DIY.
  3. Texecom Odyssey 3 range. The 3E is great value and very loud compared with the Honeywell AG series.
  4. Not sure about the '1x Motion, even when the system is disarmed' feature. Do you mean as an aggregate of any motion detector in the system ? If so, this would probably need to be done in software. The G2 is a solid panel, but doesn't really hit the spot when it comes to home automation. It has a limited set of output options / links. The Flex is okay, but I would still opt for a Dimension 48 which has a nice big metal case for extra boards and a big reliable wirewound transformer.
  5. I suppose the downside to the coupled portal solution is granularity in reporting and being able to make an informed decision regarding any false alarm. A portal solution with multiple RF sensors in the garage would be preferable, but the solution would lack any sounder local to the garage. If he didn't want to dig, then it would be the way to go. I have the powered RIO duct cabled into the garage about 20 meters away from the house. This has the benefits of being able to use the RIO outputs to control the garage door and lighting, (benefits of the Dimension/G3/Flex panels) along with the power RIO being connected to extra sirens in and outside the garage. It does add another 7Ah battery for maintenance and you have to dig the cable in to start with though.
  6. The keypad display doesn't show any countdown, but it does show up 'System Full or Part Set' at the point when the countdown timer completes. You should hear the set 'double beep' from the keypad, but this may have changed in different firmware versions. What's the version of your panel ?
  7. The accompanying install document only details programmable as Alpha or V2. It does specify a programming tool for the Domonial, but I would suspect that is at the panel side. I've never dealt with Domonial, so cannot confirm that. Haven't seen any supporting docs for reprogramming the buttons when used with the G2 series - news to me if it can be done. I've only seen the TCC8M perform Full Set, Part Set and Unset. If it was night set, then you should hear the keypad beep when it sets. Likewise, if part setting or full setting, you get the tones at the keypad or internal speaker if fitted. The logs show as per the assigned user performing the set/part set and unset.
  8. Honeywell may not provide support, but panels are so widely used that public support isn't a problem. If the race comes down to price and availability, there's a clear winner.
  9. Yes, C079-2 is the best portal for the G2. The portal connects to the RS485 bus as per the keypad, so you can mount remotely from the panel. You can still have 12 wired zones and 8 wireless.
  10. Prepare for disappointment then. You need an PE1800IP Alarm Receiver if you want to process images. There's nothing in the app about viewing images. See doc: http://www.security.honeywell.com/uk/documents/Galaxy-Flex-Visual-Verification_Brochure.pdf Did you spend £100 on the camera PIR's ?
  11. Welcome. Were you the CentOS founder ?
  12. Correct. A separate IP based camera system external to the property is the solution for me. I have a new in-soffit mount Axis PTZ dome ready for this. Just need to sort out the recording equipment.
  13. Alas, I just don't want connected cameras all over the house. It's a step too far for me. Fine for a business, but the hacking potential for a domestic is a nightmare. From what I've seen of security panel firmware, it doesn't fill me with confidence in having cameras added to the mix.
  14. I suppose the only way would be some distanced dual detector pair that could determine the absolute position and dimensions of any object with respect to each other. Sounds more expensive than a single false alarm every couple of years though.
  15. Had a false alarm last night 1am while asleep. All sirens blaring. SMS came through saying sunroom DT. Being a dual-tec I was suspicious of a false alarm and the adrenaline was pumping when I went down to check it out... I was confronted by a huge moth flapping about in the sunroom that had triggered the DT7550. Terminated the moth, but it took me ages to get back to sleep after that If only we had a sensor that could accurately differentiate between humans and anything else. Picking up on brainwaves or the like. I suppose most amateur criminals don't have much going on in that area though!
  16. Pretty much the same as Matt, I'd stick with the G2 or Dimension over the Flex. I've had several customers who have experienced issues when trying to mix portals and RIO's on the Flex series - all sorts of strange behaviour from the firmware. Programming is a little different with the Flex V3 in the comm's area, but generally the same feel as the Galaxy series. The Flex V3 also has a second bus introduced - Honeywell Intellibus - Another protocol sitting on RS485 at higher speed. Oh, and the devices for that bus aren't compatible with the old modules. It's just the comm's devices for now though.
  17. Excellent panels for domestic or small business. They've been around for a long time and are very reliable. Not much in the way of automation for lighting Etc. but not to be expected for the low end of the Galaxy range.
  18. I certainly wouldn't have PIR cameras internal to the home. The panels they are connected to will be a prime target for hacking. The standard functionality is for the protocol to only allow pre and post trigger image transmissions, but once the panel is hacked, then it's carte blanche.
  19. The latest preso from Honeywell shows the Flex positioned for price under the G2-20, but still above the G2-12 as there is no 12 zone flex. Since there's little need for >12 zones for a majority of domestic installs, then I'm not sure why they don't just create a 12 zone Flex. The good thing I suppose is that their roadmap shows the G2 series continuing out past 2015, so the lower cost G2-12 will continue to be available.
  20. No, it's the G2 metal box, and the modules don't have connectors, so you'd have to fit externally like with the G2.
  21. I was thinking more on the level of concern. Ie. When selfmon escalates to confirmed, then pass up a level to the arc to analyse. Use machine learning algo to escalate. There's no getting in the way of progress...
  22. I've toyed with the idea of this as a queue option for my SelfMon service, but not sure customers would pay additional monthly fees for it. If it were an on demand pay X amount per request, then that may work. Something like a web service at the manned arc that accepts a dump of last X events, customer contact list and other info.
  23. No issue with this, it just wasn't on the front page and is now. The rules on the government distance selling website did not state that this had to be on the front page, only that it is available prior to and after any order.
