  1. Nothing to do with an airing cupboard, But I do have a few stories, First one, About 14 years ago I did an intruder install on a separate garage at the top of a guys garden, Routing and clipping cables around the roof timber, I disturbed a plastic Woolworths carrier bag, So I picked it up to move it. Though to myself, This does not feel quite right, I know what this is... Opened the bag, It was a loaded gun, an old one with the spinning barrel on it. Chucked it right back, did the job and said bugger all. Needless to say, Earlier this year he was charged for letter bombs and attempted murder on the news. Second one, (One I will never forget & My Favourite) Must be about 10 years ago, We did a large amount of student accommodation places with very basic intruder alarms. You go into the house, Each room is a separate persons room and shared kitchen/bath etc. Anyway, We got most of the cabling for the install but when it the external ball, We needed to get the to the front bedroom So I knocked on. I $hit you not, this young fit as bird opened the door to let us in, As we started to move a couple of items about, another girl got up from the bed, NAKED and started talking to us like it was normal. They were a pair of lesbians, There were some weird looking objects on the floor and an image that sticks in my mind of a double ender LMFAO, I'm sure we all have some great stories but these two have to be the ones I can most remember like it was yesterday
  2. Good Luck, Hope all goes well for you..
  3. Funny you should say that, I offered the whole free lunch thing to our assessor last week I was quite surprised when he said that there was no need for it, Although some assessors like the free grub, He was happy with a prawn sandwich from Tesco filling station.... Whatever you want pal .. Suite me fine.
  4. Thanks for the comments .... Who's Paul. Lmao , Steve
  5. I have had a very nice telephone call today from SSAIB, All the hard work seems to of paid off, I do feel very happy with all the recent events and the direction my company is heading. Starting tomorrow my company is SSAIB Accredited. Thanks for all you input and comments within, its appreciated.
  6. I don't disagree with that at all, However as we all know, The debate will always be an on-going thing between bodies, Both are recognised by insurers. If you have it, You have it sort of thing. This was discussed earlier, We would never achieve NSI Gold, I couldn't be ar$ed with the ISO side of things, Far too much to be doing with.
  7. Went through - FA Stats Netport via EMCS for required reports Went through - Already have compliant ones Went through - Complaints procedures, We already have in place Went through - Insurance, Employers, Liability, Efficacy, All in place Went through - Screening, Were sorted there Went through - CRB, I have basic and enhanced for staff Went through - Standards, To be honest I answered most of the questions quite quickly The overall round trip was about 10 miles, This clearly reduced the time taken
  8. To be honest, I did think it would of entailed more, I was cr@pping it as you know, But to be fair, He went through the entire paperwork which was passed, our whole sales, survey, quoting and system design, maintenance among a lot more was all checked He went through numerous standards trying to trip me up, which he didn't. He said on a few occasions I was far ahead of what they expected to see at the first audit process. I got 8 sites prepared for a visit, He selected the 3 he wanted. All were within 5 miles from our office. The first site visit, All the access was checked, DDA compliant, All RTE and break glass tested and wiring checked with diagrams Second, We went to a trading estate for a decent size CCTV with speed domes and fixed, also a multi-point door entry & Paxton kit, All heavily tested & checked against SDP Third site visit, He went through a large domestic, £1.5m property, heavily protected, he pulled it apart and it signalled everything, all compliant Back at the office, He went through various other details and small tweak's required, nothing really. What more is there, ?
  9. Well, That's that over and done with. They were here at 9am, The visit should of been until 16:30, But he wrapped it up and left here just after 14:00 I have to wait two weeks to find out if I have passed it, They no longer tell you on the day anymore at the end of the visit. He went to see a mixture of Access, CCTV and Monitored systems. inspected them and all was well apart from a product fault. Being told your panel wiring is "exceptional and extremely neat" is pleasing, Fired off a system and verified all the signalling to ARC, All 100% All my recent changes in the way the office is run has paid off, Our paperwork was not an issue at all for him, all was well. I did get a non conformity for not having the BSIA standards, But you cant get them until you are accredited anyway, this is apparently the norm ? A small charge of £106.00 gives us full access to the entire security industry standards, this was quite cheap I thought. I was told that the decision was based on the assessors opinion and review of the days findings and events we went through by someone called Dave "Forgot" He also mentioned that he would be highly surprised if we were not accepted, We shook hands and left with the words Well done, from him I hate waiting, That's like dangling a carrot on a string in front of a donkey . . . . I have to wait 2 weeks now
  10. guys, Its surprising just how little sleep you can get when something is hammering your brain, I managed just over 4 hours. Back in the office, sitting here waiting for the knock on the door God damn, never again, lmfao
  11. Thanks for your input guys, I'm off for the night now... Will post an update tomorrow,
  12. Well, The time has come upon. . . . Our accreditation audit is 9am tomorrow, Feeling a little nervous and my sphincter is twitching like a rabbits nose... Did a callout in Manchester today, Got back just after 3pm, Still at the office now going through everything, but finding nothing obvious. I'm sure I will fly through it without any great concerns..... Does anyone have any final suggestions of what to expect,
  13. Thought I would give this one a kick, It was 10 months ago that Paul came to see us for the initial consultation. Due to various factors at the time, I sort of put this on the back boiler for a little while until I felt it was the right time. We've spent the last 10 months undergoing various changes and improvements in the way things are done for both installation and administration. Our entire administration side has been totally overhauled with a new system of doing things with complete audit trails for everything. With the above said and done, I contacted them 2 weeks ago and sent the application along with their £735 application fee. They contacted me today to tell me that all the background checks and Accountantants financial checks were all accepted with no issues. Our actual assessment date is 17th June, Our assessor is Paul fathers who will be with us for the day.... Sh!t a brick I came off the phone with my ass twitchin like a rabbits nose... All being well, We should have no issues and have a good result on the day....

  16. Just read the whole thead, Its a very interesting read.
  17. Argh, Just noticed my first post, 3 lettered regional should of said 3 lettered National, Meaning (A?T) To be honest, my reason for going SSAIB as opposed to NSI is probably something others will disagree with, Here Goes, Here is my theory, As you know there is NSI Bronze, Silver & Gold. Without going ISO there is no way in hell were gonna get Gold, Were just a small family business, Its not worth it, So, we would ended up with NSI Silver Accreditation. I have been asked quite a few times before by customers, Why are some company's Bronze, Silver or Gold Is it because there are different levels of company or installation quality, To the end user, I think its often misunderstood. My reason to go for the SSAIB was purely that its a single recognised status, (SSAIB Intruder, CCTV,Access) I know it will sound stupid reason to some of you, its just my way of looking at it like some customers do, " If youre a silver, Youre not as good as a Gold" blah blah, Would be interesting to hear your opinions. Like i said, It might sound silly, but thats how people in Stoke see it Go easy on me, Regards,
  18. Well, after losing quite another large install to a the 3 lettered regional a few weeks ago, I have decided to go for it. I've just lost it on the basis of no NSI / SSAIB, and whats worse, it was worth £24k for combined CCTV,Intruder & Access I contacted the SSAIB last week, We've had Paul Fathers at our office for a few hours this morning, Quite happy to say that all went well on the paperwork side, Just 3 small items to take care of and thats sorted. I was pulled up on our Photo ID badges aswell, All details are fine, We just have no engineers signature on them. They have now been ordered from our supplier this afternoon. Also had to register our office with the Data Commissioner, As we often process clients CCTV data for the police. All in all, It went quite well, Just waiting for the confirmation date of inspection visit Fingers Crossed, Lets see how we go.....
