  1. I appreciate advice on here, but many posts appear to be sales pitches with "throw it away" type of answers. I like to prove that a product is fully deffective before anything gets disposed.

You're wrong about that, no one is trying to sell you anything. All the posts above give good advice.

You're battery is clearly knackered, bin it and replace.

A panel upgrade would make sense as your lack of maintenance may well have damaged the charge circuit, something this panel type is well known for. Have a look on the PCB in the region of the battery leads connections you may well find a burnt out resistor.

Given the state of the "battery" (it ceased being a battery years ago) Id be surprised if you didnt.

  2. lol..its not even a geordie accent its more teesside, hard to copy were a unique race you know..cough

Defo not smoggy, more country Durham. We have a couple of subs in Trimdon who sound much the same as that.

  3.

Visonic Wireless System (not entirely sure which one) - 4 PIRS & Door Contact Supply & Install 520 - Unsure on maintenance, waiting for info.

    Visonic Powermax - 8 PIRS & Door Contact Supply & Install 518.75 - 12 months guarantee / 35 per year maintenance.

    Pyronix Enforcer - 5 PIRS & 2 Door Contacts Supply & Install 560 - 12 months guarantee / 60 per year maintenance.

What are your thoughts on the above, I would welcome anyone input.

    Thanks in advance

    Leigh

Enforcer is fine, being 2 way its a different league in terms of quality and reliabilty from 1 way.

    Swerve visonic.

  4. The polish and Germans are crazy and meet up out of town. I went to Germany as part of my course and they hate each other with a passion.

Full on 50 v 50 toe to toe.

Very sad imo but each to their own.

    Lots of this on youtube.

Personally I prefer watching kids falling off scateboards and crushing their knackers on a handrail.

If Matt was to actually sit on a fence it would probably have to conform to some sort of standard.

  5. It wasn't about 3k but worth the investment when we take people to court who can't wriggle on a technicality. The other advantage was if the lawyer had made a screw up we would have recourse to sue under his professional indemnity insurance.

assuming he wrote the contract for that too!

  6. I dont know the machine as there are lots of rebranded ones about, but you're probably right about it being 8 ish years old. It has one hard drive of 250mb so small by todays standards and the noise will amost certainly be the fan. If it works and you're happy with it then fine but a new DVR with current CMS would be an improvement.

  7. Go with the upgrade, also bear in mind that for the quoted price they will almost certainly have to go round every detector to fit resistors (for compatibility) which will add time to the job. So its not as simple as a straight swap.

  8. Im the same, I blame my old man as he instilled his values in me. On holidays as a kid he would be on the phone to the office everyday, and was one of the first people to have a mobile phone outside of the M25 which was a car batt with a motorola handset on top.

Matt I think you need a deputy, someone keen who can take the strain a bit. Either that or (not being rude here) but live with the fact that you are someone elses deputy. Learn to delegate. There's no sense at all being as plugged in as you are.

    Edited to add,

    Wow.

    Kin QFA.

  9. Well, That's that over and done with.

They were here at 9am, The visit should of been until 16:30, But he wrapped it up and left here just after 14:00

I have to wait two weeks to find out if I have passed it, They no longer tell you on the day anymore at the end of the visit.

He went to see a mixture of Access, CCTV and Monitored systems. inspected them and all was well apart from a product fault.

Being told your panel wiring is "exceptional and extremely neat" is pleasing, Fired off a system and verified all the signalling to ARC, All 100%

All my recent changes in the way the office is run has paid off, Our paperwork was not an issue at all for him, all was well.

I did get a non conformity for not having the BSIA standards, But you cant get them until you are accredited anyway, this is apparently the norm ?

A small charge of £106.00 gives us full access to the entire security industry standards, this was quite cheap I thought.

I was told that the decision was based on the assessors opinion and review of the days findings and events we went through by someone called Dave "Forgot"

He also mentioned that he would be highly surprised if we were not accepted, We shook hands and left with the words Well done, from him

    I hate waiting, That's like dangling a carrot on a string in front of a donkey . . . . I have to wait 2 weeks now

Id say you're in without a doubt.

Re the standards, dont forget you pay that annually for access.

There's nothing wrong with them being done by 2pm IMHO if they've seen everything they need to see to make an decision, in fact Id take that as a plus. Next time they visit make sure you have loads of questions for them/him - pick their brains and remember that you pay their wages, and take him to any sites you're working on and need pointers. Ive found that customers are impressed when their site is chosen for inspection, and I always follow up our visits with a thank you letter letting them know their system passed, just as a courtesy.
