Smoke cloak is good, but it should be fitted professionally. You cant use pepper spray or electrocute people thats illegal. Smart water if you want to catch who did it. Masterblaster if you want to make em crap themselves. A decent monitored alarm system is probably best

Bizarrely we had a takeover recently where the customer was told by the Police that they were removing Police response from the company that they were with for telling people exactly that. The Police had contacted SSAIB and everything apparently. I personally would not rely on self monitoring, the amount of times a day I miss calls because I have left my phone in my car, office, workshop, store room. If I am in a meeting my phone is off, there are plenty of places I go where I have no signal. Much better to have a monitoring station dealing with my alarm problems

And I connect mine to an ARC and the app is a free add-on, whereas the app is the selling point for you.

But you can use it as GSM only though and only pay for gsm

of course, but it costs twice as much as Wifi alone or GSM alone and so if you dont need dual path, and the Wifi drops out alot, and you cant be assed to fit a lan card and run a network, just fit GSM on it own

Yeah been using it a while now, it drops out still but you can adjust the timer so it reports less dropouts

It depends who you ask. My oppinion would be that most people install it because its easy and cheap in comparison to pro stuff

Hi Hannah What fire panel is it? What sort of size system are we talking about? If its only a small system then its not a big problem until you need parts for it, and there are still one or two suppliers that supply closed protocol detectors etc depending on the brand. Bigger systems are more of a problem, we had a leisure centre with a closed protocol system that was a real pain. We were glad to lose that one when it came around for tender.

The charging circuit gets knackered when you dont replace the battery when its due. I would not recommend trying to add another charger, not unless you have a good sprinkler system for when it all catch's fire. If you really really want to stick with an old panel they do sometimes come up on ebay for two or three times what theyre worth.

Mine is currently Netgear but its old, I have another so I could just swap it over. But again its old, Amazon have some Netgears @around £198.00 there is a Cisco 2960G WS-C2960G-48TC-L on ebay new for £120.00

My phones seem to drop out every now and again, I have narrowed it down to my switch, I have used local poe and swapped phones around it apears the faults are port-related on the switch. I have been looking at switch's and they seem to range from £200 to £2k does anyone have a recomendation?

Pyronix used to use plastic that warps and moves when it gets warm or cold. I stopped using Pyronix bells because they were always tampering

They are deterrant LEDS the idea is so that burglars see that the bell box is real (If they look that is) different manufacturers have different ideas on what works best, you can even have a fully back lit box now (not to everybody's taste).

Some have flashing lights some dont it depends on the make, so long as there are no fault messages on your keypad nothing to worry about. I would recommend that you look into a service contract in any case though.

There is a battery in the bell to stop would be burglars from getting around your alarm system by switching the power off, or removing the bell, or cutting the wires to the bell. It used to happen, but not so much nowadays, I cant remember the last time we had anyone attempt to circumvent a system before breaking in.

Could have been a diyer on here, or it could have been sarcasm Talking of sarcasm...... The market is flooded with loads of products it is quite hard to decide what to buy, I have a mixture of the most expensive and cheaper kit. RF lightwave (expensive) only seem to do dimmer lights for some reason, which makes them even more expensive when you want LED lights everywhere. Broadlink one of the cheapest is very innovative, their lightswitch doesnt require a negative to work, the broadlink controller has ir as well as radio and WiFi which means you can control Tv Hifi and just about anything that has ir including my aircon at work, the sw has a 7 day timer so I can program the heating to start 10 mins before I arrive at work and I can switch it off from my phone or Alexa of course if I am not going to be in.
