Hi all, Just joined the forum. I have a mixed work interest, being both employed & self employed running a couple of small businesses. Always had a strong leaning to technical things. Have installed all my own alarm systems previously & now ready to install a Scantronic system in my current home. May end up looking for some advice. Joe

Hello I just joined the forum yesterday. I work for a company that fits cctv systems into buses and coaches and various gadgets like trackers and alarms into vehicles. But at the moment our jobs arent safe as the company is losing contracts and getting rid of staff. So Im looking round for something else before I end up losing my job - which wont be long the way things are going. I was pointed in this forums direction by a member of another forum my wife belongs to. Look forward to having a good read on here! Paul

I left the army last year (special forces) i went into the telecoms industry (fibre/copper/sdh) there was a dry spell, and was contacted by an agency wanting cctv engineers. Hello, I found this site, whilst looking for inf. on CCTV systems. I initially want to buy a DIY system, probably 4 camera and record facility, as some dear soul has taken to breaking into my shed for my garden gear. To date two visits in 18 months. Then I started to think , this could be a slight diversification to my business which is installation of domestic swimming pools. With our data base, we could probably get a few clients interested in a pool surveillance system. So here I go, wearing two caps and hoping to get my self educated on CCTV's I understand they are now so advanced, you can even get the pictures transmitted to a mobile phone or remote computer.…

Hi everyone, I've been in the industry for the past 12 years working as an engineer but have recently (2 months ago) moved into management. I've worked with various security systems but am cctv biased due to the fact that I worked as resident engineer on various town centre systems. I look forward to getting to know you all

Hi all, I am a competent DIYer - especially in the electrics/electronics areas. My pet hate is having anything in my house when I don't understand how it works (apart from SWMBO). So I recently bought a whole new alarm kit (panel, PIRs, SABB, etc etc) to replace an 25 year old system with just 2 zones. I have it all set up now as a test rig (on a work bench) and it is working well. But I still have lots of questions - so will be hoping to use the DIY part of the forum to get some answers. Ken.

Hello All Saw this site and was intrigued enough to want to join up, I'll probably not post very much as my experience is all based in Canada, different codes, regulations etc. But I shall read lots and hope to pick up a bit of wisdom. A bit about me? Started out in 1980 (old fart status has been applied for) with a large corporate company, took a break to run a golf course for a while and have been back in the business getting caught up on the new lines.
