cheers mate much appreciated.

Out of interest why would you recommend Texecom over Pyronix? @al-yeti

Im not a fan of either but I hear less people complaining about the Texecom app going down on the FB forums

  • Part finished new install-     &

  • You can but its not recommended Price for what your getting sounds a little expensive, but there are a few unknowns like parking and any other misc charges.

  • Try local independent installer if possible, your paying *£2640* assume no vat reclaim either  Access to keep cables apart is main issue , depends how much your house you want taken apart

Thank you. HKC seems a good one to explore. Are there many people on this forum with HKC systems? Wondering what the community is like.

(actually would be a good thing to see what systems people in this community have).

Grade of system is grade 1 lowest grade 4 highest

Also a 4g router will fail in a mains failure leaving you with no comms

Hi @james.wilson thanks for the info. What’s a solid alternative to a 4G router as a backup WAN? I’ve heard that these security systems (Pyronix etc) can have  GPRS modules, but not sure what these are nor where to start!

I’d be happy to have recommmendations 🤞

I only know the hkc GSM option that is 4g and WiFi combined

Plus the paths are then monitored separately. Polling rates are the thing to consider here. Just cos WiFi is available or 4g signal etc doesn't mean the alarm can transmit data. Proper pro systems poll at regular intervals. Ie grade 4 comms every 30 seconds grade 2 comms every 24 hours.

The faster the poll rate the quicker a failure is reported. Plus if a GSM jammer and line cut is performed the quicker an alarm can be generated.

Normally the alarm having its own SIM works better than trying to daulpath a router

All the cool kids use HKC, but not me

Of If I opt out of a sim during initial installation, is it fairly straightforward to retrofit a sim later? I imagine it’s some “plug-in” sim module I can add later?

Thanks to all the collaboration/help here, I have a few more things to look into (HKC, SIM modules) so it’ll stall my plans for a little while.

I’d be delighted to get some recommended HKC installers for the South London area (my Wife will insist on NSI/SSAIB registered installer as it will give peace of mind for future requirements or changes ).
