OneManBand Posted Monday at 11:14 Share Posted Monday at 11:14 Hi. We have a legacy ADT alarm panel (Honeywell galaxy) and I have a simple question. Is it possible to lower the internal sounder volume? Basically, when I part set the ground floor before going up to bed, the setting tone beeps (same when doing full set) but it is very loud and this wakes up our children sleeping upstairs. So any way to lower/disable the countdown noise? sixwheeledbeast Posted Monday at 11:29 Share Posted Monday at 11:29 Installer should be able to make the part set silent. Which model Galaxy? OneManBand Posted Monday at 11:47 Author Share Posted Monday at 11:47 Unfortunately I can't tell exactly the model. No markings other than ADT branding. Can I remove the panel housing to confirm model number (not keypad) or is there a tamper alarm? Will any user code stop the tamper alarm? I have a code (possibly a manager level code from the previous owner but not sure if it's an engineer code). I get following options when go into "menu"... 1=omit, 2=chime, 3=walk, 4=codes..... We've recently moved in and I'm trying to get grasp of the system as it's well out of any service contract from ADT. sixwheeledbeast Posted Monday at 11:49 Share Posted Monday at 11:49 It would likely need an installer reset on any tampers if it was under contract in the past. You wouldn't have the engineer code as an end user. Consider having an installer take it over and service it. They can program it how you want and you have a record it's operational and fit for purpose. PeterJames Posted Monday at 13:24 Share Posted Monday at 13:24 There is normally a label on the metal box detailing the model number. Its unlikely that you will have the engineers code ADT do not give this out to customers, nor do any other alarm companies for that matter. As SWB has said the volume can be changed to silent part, but this is not a user option. If the panel is out of contract you can use any company that is willing to take it on. Be aware ADT sell mostly monitored alarm systems and so you may find that there is no external sounder only a dummy box. james.wilson Posted Monday at 13:31 Share Posted Monday at 13:31 The classics can't do silent part set. Would need a hi lo sounder with a volume adjustment or upgraded panel. OneManBand Posted Monday at 21:35 Author Share Posted Monday at 21:35 (edited) Checked. Definitely no label on the metal panel box, but haven't yet removed the cover incase tamper goes off. I am confident it's a galaxy because the keypad is a MK7/cp03*. Which exact version panel not sure yet. If it helps, the system appears to have been installed 2002/2003 as that's when the annual service records begin. With regards to the engineer code, I'm sure you guys are correct. It's only because I saw user 1 is populated and I get the menu options I listed above, but in fairness more detailed menu options are not available. If it's physically not possible to change the sounder level than I'll leave it at that, but just seems a design flaw that a residential household would want such a loud beeping for 30 or more seconds for nightime set. During day time set, I'm fine with the sounder.
