Scantronic lid tamper

Featured Replies

Hi All

Recently doing some DIY and unfortunately made a mistake and unscrewed the screws off the lid of the alarm (needed access to something behind it in cupboard). Anyway, internal alarm went off, managed to switch this off by entering code on panel, and I put the screws back in place without removing the lid.

Now the panel says "lid tamper" and can't use the alarm.

Tried to contact original installer but they are not in business anymore.

Can anyone provide some instructions on how to reset the alarm to get rid of this fault?

Thanks

Alan

This should always been changed leaving anything with default codes is a huge risk on a system designed to be secure.   All systems need to be serviced or they will eventually fail, usuall

  • @Alan12 You sound old enough to have learned many life lessons, but unfortunately taking advice from someone with experience isnt one of them.   I dont think anyone here is trying to drum up

Any local installer could do this for you, make contact and pay for service while your at it , full test job done  👍🏽

Thanks, yes I am aware I can contact an alarm engineer to do this.

My reason for asking here is to see if this is something I can deal with, without needing to do that.

The problem with this is , when most make a mistake trying to do this , they wipe all the settings to default

So if you couldn't find out how by now then try and avoid it, unfortunately this site does not give out that kind of information

id assume you havnt got the lid on correcrtly or you have damaged the tamper switch.

You have done nothing else but remove the lid of the panel?

its also going to need a service even if you do it yourself

So it doesn't reset with your Master user code?

You definitely have the lid on and closed the lid switch correctly?

Dont have the master reset code, the system was installed before I moved in two years ago. The default engineer code isnt working, so i think the initial installer has put in a different one to the default code.

Lid definitely on properly. The lid tamper fault is "inactive", which means that the fault is no longer there. It just needs an engineer reset. I think even if I ask an engineer to come and do it, if he doesnt have the original engineer code, they will have to reset to default factory settings (perform a stage 1 reset), then re-install.

@james.wilson - why would it need a service if I do it myself?

All systems need to be serviced or they will eventually fail, usually at 2am etc

yes i understand, im sure they did change it for that reason

Don't use Scantronic regular but to reset a tamper I'd expect you need the Master user code if not set to Engineer Reset.

Sounds like you maybe best to have it serviced and re-programmed so you have the Master code.
