Example: Schools in Brighton would not let boys wear shorts because its not part of the uniform so the boys in protest wore skirts. The school could not send them home because it is part of the uniform and they cannot discriminate on sex. 

 

My take, I can see no valid reason as to why shorts could not be added as part of the uniform, if the school dictated the type, colour, length etc in line with their uniform colours. I can see that letting kids identify as whatever they want could end in tears but I dont have an answer for it.
