Gardtec 601 power down

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an old GT 601 Alarm system that is not working ?  I am not an installer just moved in. I wish to shut it down, I have the Engineers code and user code  but worried if I shut it down, the outside bell will sound?  Does the Outside bell have internal batteries? And can I power it down completely.

thanks

That is correct.

With a fully operational system if you power down the inside the siren will activate.

Fully decommissioning a system usually involves ladders and earplugs.

They are designed that way so a burglar can't disable them easily from the inside.

2 ways of doing this

Option 1

let your neighbours know, kill power to panel and wait 15min for the battery to die

Option 2

Get a ladder, open bell, disconnect battery and power down system

this will work for a few months but the battery isnt dead just the timer has shut it off. What it will do when it does start to go flat is anyone guess

On all my experience nothing will happen and its a matter of hours not months

The comfort LEDs will flatten the battery's remaining charge
