Morning all and thanks for the add.

I am an electrician and hoping to learn more about alarms. Are there any courses or recognised entry routes into the trade?

Noticing a bit of a crossover at times when I restore power to an aging alarm I installation and get the blame for dead batteries etc... ?

C&G 1853 would be the current qualification into the industry.

Being a spark you may find other short courses being more suitable like ones from Tavcom.

Much of the practical side of the job you learn best as an apprentice within the industry.

I'd advise any self employed electrician to make friends with a tame alarm monkey...

Its mostly coloured wires & product knowledge, you can do a b-tec or train with tavcom or similar

If your foolish enough to want t be an alarm man just apply for job at the biggest co. you can find,

QFA I have a tame electrician, plumber and chef, that I call on whenever I need a spur sorted, a leak fixed, or a sausage rolled.

I know this will offend the sparks but alarm lads deal with even numbers of wires.

Its a different skill set with much smaller cables.

I've yet to meet a spark that didn't know better / best in every way till the first series contact came up
