Gregory
Hello, My first time posting so hi to everyone. I have just finished installing an Optima gen 4 alarm system. Everything went well and the system works well. The only problem is that there are no warning tones from the panel speaker on exit/entry even though the timers are working and the alarm sets correctly. In alarm test mode, pressing 3 should sound the panel speaker but while the LED lights up, there is no sound. Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated. sixwheeledbeast
Do you have anything wired in speaker terminals? If there is a built in speaker meter the resistance on it's leads to see if its ok, do the same if you have fitted one separately. Gregory
Hello al-yeti, Yes that is correct, no sound from buttons when setting or entry/exit Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/42190-optima-gen-4-panel-speaker/#findComment-477569 Share on other sites
Gregory
Hello sixwheeledbeast, Thank you for replying, there are no speakers wired to the speaker terminals. The only speaker is the built in one that came with the panel that is wired to 13v+ red and 0v black as it was when I received the panel. The resistance measured on it's leads is zero, whether on test or not. sixwheeledbeast
A "loudspeaker" should be wired into loudspeaker terminals and have a resistance of between 8-32ohms if tested on it's leads only depending on the speaker and panel. Gregory
I've moved the terminals into the speaker terminals, no joy. I've also rechecked the resistance on it's leads and the reading is still zero. sixwheeledbeast
Possibly blown something then. Speakers aren't designed to pass DC and AUX output isn't designed to take a short. Check AUX voltages with meter and find another loudspeaker of the same impedance to test the output.
