Wireless: Risco Agility 3 Or Scantronic Ion16

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have received two quotes for two different wireless alarm systems for my home:

1) Risco Agility 3

2) Scantronic ion-16

The Risco Agility 3 seemed to have additional options (Camera and App to alarm / disarm etc.). Including the camera and app option makes the Risco alarm system about £550 more expensive than the Scantronic.

Given the two options, would you please advise which of the two alarm systems is better? Are they both reliable? Any recommendations or advise would be appreciated thanks. Is the additional camera / smartphone app option worth the additional cost. My concern is that would the additional technology mean more potential issues?

I was impressed with each company that quoted, the maintenance package with the Scantronic was much cheaper (£80 per year vs £80 per call out for the Risco alarm).

Which would you choose and why.

Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the replies. I was just looking for a reliable alarm system so contacted a couple of local security companies.

The quotes for each (excluding camera app / Risco) were under £1k, which is my budget including installation.

So based on the replies I have seen so far, should I get quotes for additional alarm systems or would the two suggested be okay? Are Texecom / Galaxy systems better and comparable in price to the two I suggested.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Risco:

Risco RWX95 duel tech

Risco RWT920 passive infra-red x2

Risco RWT62W shock and door contact

Risco surface mounted contact x2

Risco Agility 3 control panel,

Scantronic:

Scantronic 734R Door Contact x3

Scantronic XCELR Wireless Motion Sensor x4

Scantronic Ion 16 Control Panel

Scantronic Remote Key Pad

These were the two lists. Little difference in price between the two. I excluded the smart app option and camera option of the Risco. But these are an extra ~£200 (IP Module, PIR Camera). Not £500 as previously mentioned.

Both are low quality imo.

For me, budget, pyronix enforcer.

Premium texecom ricochet.

Scantronic is 1 way wireless, obsolete flawed technology.

Risk-o is plasticky and has a high failure rate.

Pyronix gear has an annoyingly high part failure rate too, but at least it is cheap, and user friendly.

Galaxy is quality kit but not as refined for home use as texecom.

Neither. I would go galaxy wireless if it had to be wireless.

Or on a budget enforcer.

When is the Enforcer app going to be ready? I thought June was the release date!
