August 25, 201510 yr comment_428222 I don't think they make them any more (it was their only MC product) so I guess I wasn't the only one. So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/38987-double-balanced-door-contacts/page/2/#findComment-428222 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 August 25, 201510 yr comment_428223 I assume the reeds are all bought in & quite probably from a common source. August 25, 201510 yr comment_428224 Well, I've heard that Knight use only EU or US made ones, I assume Elmdene buy 'locally' in China as they manufacture over there, and Ventcroft I can only guess must have bought a really sh1tty batch from god knows where. I have never had a door contact fail like that before, an RSD yes, although that wasn't welded shut that was random opening. August 25, 201510 yr comment_428226 IIRC Ademco was once a large supplier of glass reeds? I have experienced both Knight & CQR to fail, open, closed or spaz out.... I think graded contacts with pcb's are worse than resistors fitted into BS contacts for failing back in the golden age of DP when Arf was getting on the waiting list for a bus pass... You could measure the circuit during servicing & find failing contacts which going hi Ω, an extra 50Ω ain't never going show up on EOL Mr Veritas God Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/38987-double-balanced-door-contacts/page/2/#findComment-428226 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 August 25, 201510 yr comment_428229 Mr Happy, Arf is my nickname on this site and I've got a bus pass..never use it though..can't find any buses in my part of the world..horse and cart maybe, but very few buses.. I agree with you, at least there was a chance of finding the high value resistor. Is there anything in the regs that says we can't use a straight forward contact with our own (the panel) resistors ? August 25, 201510 yr comment_428237 Mr Happy, Arf is my nickname on this site No Arf is Arf, http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/user/7025-arfur-mo/ aka the "wonder of wickford" or something beginning with "w" I forget which... Your "Arf Lite" & it might not be a complement Mr Veritas God Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/38987-double-balanced-door-contacts/page/2/#findComment-428237 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 August 25, 201510 yr comment_428241 OK then, you can call me Arf Lite, or anything else for that matter. There shouldn't be anything in 'the regs' regarding eol's since resistors are still provided with panels (not all of them of course !!).
