Removing A Texecom Veritas *rolls Eyes*

Featured Replies

Hello,

Well had to go to a customer property to remove Texecom Veritas system.   Various reasons customer want alarm removed but thats a other story.

This system is hardwired in as normal.

Went about to Set system into Light only mode, simple

Remove Bell Box, Simple

Went to Panel removed battery, Simple

Went to remove fuse spur, It was not fused in!

Looked about to try find mains cable, This is put inside wall and was actully connected to the Bathroom Extractor spur!

Have anybody ever come across this or a weird way to wire in alarm.

Panel installed over 'passing by' vertical ring main beneath plaster.

Cut down to sheath with knife, tripled up security cable wires soldered on, no earth (plastic panel innit?), mastic applied before gluing panel to wall

This was when we were upgrading someones existing back in the mid to late 90s. Well before cheap digital cameras and phones.

At least they brought it out to a spur!

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

And how do you do them now?

We don't bother with the spur

Obv connecting it onto Shower works okay!   Customer actully did wonder why when she switched shower on the Alarm go off!

We had a funny one once where the alarm 'went funny' every time they went in the cupboard.

Some joker had wired it to the switch (i.e C and L1), and being a few years ago the filament of a 60W lamp was more

than enough to take the current of a small transformer. Of course turned on this then cut off the alarm which briefly

went into mains fail until they'd finished in the cupboard.

Every little helps
