Still makes me laugh when I see panels fixed to plasterboard with 1 1/2 8's and red plugs. Their bells still look OK after all these years. panels i can agree, but detectors id use yellows and inch's. Assuming the wall is sound. even i use 1 1/2" with red plugs. All pointless IMO, any standard plastic plug and screw fixing can be pulled out of plasterboard wall.
