i've been using Kaspersky Internet security V6 for the past year, bought it as was on offer with 3 licenses, had anti-spam filtering big hate isue for me, now coming up for renewal. i can get off amazon for

I have had to repair so many machines that thought avg was protecting them i no longer recommened it.

We use Sophos on the network and fint it very good, But thats a server client version, what the desktop ones are like i have no idea.

We got some BT security pack with the brordband package. Havn't had any problems.

Is it true 95% viruses get you via email attatchments?

I've been using avg free edition with free updates AVG on Download.com

for about the last 5 years. Why paid for anti-virus when a good one is available free

i ran the single user trial version of SOPHOS, i know its one of the classier brands as the wifes firm are agents and sell it so i know it's abit pricey.

seemed to me very resource hungry, update slows my machiine down to a crawl, and this on a dual core

thats the figures, and usually from some one you know than a stranger . you tend to trust them more but dump junk mails.

dodgy warez and porno sites are flooded with it, trojans, worms, maleware - so i'm told

My advice is stay with Kaspersky but if you have to move on the basis of not understanding a warning move to NOD32.

Free (and most paid products) just don't have the update frequency required for today's Internet environment, let alone the quality of the product itself..

How often should these things be updated?

Mine checks for updates hourly, daily should be an absolute minimum - most programmes update weekly or even less frequently.
