  1. We think you are Matthew Brough of 4i security otherwise known as chunk or similar
  2. Did you charge for that 1st visit? As I would say the little old lady is due a refund or similar. To be honest that is a simple repair and if you cannot support that panel you should be honest with the client. I would not charge to fix something I cannot fix END OF
  3. I just meant if everyone understood where you were coming from it would be easier to help out with the correct info. When I first responded to you I thought you were just a random guy that knew nothing about alarms, sorry. It is easy to misunderstand people in just a few lines of text. Most of us on here know where each of us work or who for as it makes sense when advising, and can lead to good business opportunities. Many of the members on here put subcontracted work towards members that are in areas they do not cover. You may get hard cash out of it :) Friendliness.....
  4. So....................... Spill the beans about your company and it will stop all the hassle you are receiving. Apologies if I was not so helpful but I misunderstood.
  5. I am afraid of sounding like I am been harsh on you, but been totally honest: Ive just recently visited a client who has a texicom Veritas R8. Did you charge them for this? May I ask how much? Symptoms are that the Alarm repeatedly keeps going off at random times. Did you look into the log? What did that show? They said that they have had the external sounder changed a year ago, and that the control panel battery was last changed around 4 years ago. Slightly important, but this does not rule them out as faults. I then put in a temporary battery to see if this was the problem, and for the first few days it was fine but yet again the alarm has gone off several times, the owner says that the tamper light comes on everytime to. Did you not test the existing battery? With a meter that simulates battery discharge (amp reading) this is the correct way to determine a battery fault. They also mentioned the problem after a power out, I have tried the defualt engineers code but nothing happend. So it has a different engineer code. My first instinct now is to go back and do a factory reset by powering th system down, then connecting the mains and presswing the tamper spring 3 times and seeing if the engineers code has been locked out. That is NOT how I would default the R8+ or any texecom panel as far as I know, maybe that does work, I have never tried it. But the way the installation manual says is different. If this is the case is there anyway of unlocking this with a boss code?, if so can anyone tell me how to please? For the cost of a new pcb against the hassle, I would just swap it out. Also could this potentially be a broken cable in one of the tamper circuits?, if so will carrying out a resistance check on each of the the closed circuits do for testing these? Are you serious? How else would you do it? This is really really basic stuff to be honest. Any input would be greatly appreciated Sorry .......................................................................................................... Whats your company called? A link to your website would be good for "links" into it. Might get you some customers over the years
  6. true tho innit.... I was not trying to wind him up though, it was a serious suggestion. If you are spending lots of time weowing? maybe? then barking would be a better use of ones time.... Possibly And to save the 20k, (another reason not to pay another person to "bark for you")
  7. I'd say we get much better return on investment, not just advertising but even just my wage. 4i pays you to be on ere several hours a day EVERYDAY. I think you could sack a telesales person and save 4i 20k a year if you were to work more for the company.
  8. hence why i am scared of changing DB's I feel although ours will not allow us to become the size of ADT or Chubb by far! It is solid reliable and works well atm. AlterEgo says he has a better option in mind........... I am eagerly awaiting his news....
  9. Dave what do you do for call forms? Not AM mobile then....?
  10. I could say the same.. But the thing that makes me ponder it all is the time it takes to process said dockets (not the one, the thousands )
  11. It would seem by writing nothing is the best way Maybe an App or similar, don't ask me about how to create them, I will just google it. Or see if anyone replies.............
  12. My best advice would to start off with the "backbone" i.e. panel keypad external sounder 1 door contact and a pir. Do this with equipment that is made for the job. If you cannot afford all at once install whatever you can and add to it. But tbh with alarms you need to do it properly or you will just waste money and still get burgled (posibly ofc)
  13. I amnot racist... If I was a racist I would not have a mate in Burco city Somaliland that is a sunni muslim. amongst all the many people I know from many different backgrounds I can see how it would be taken wrongly and I totally take back any harm caused, this was not intentional.
  14. I dont want to clck the links but really really really wanna know where you are. It sounds like somaliland or somewhere. I know a guy that lives there a sunni muslim and this is his dhl office: wtf..... Google Burco city Dhl if u bothered cannot get the pic on ere http://so.worldmapz.com/photo/301_en.htm I couldn't help laughing when I was chatting to the lad on FB and he said he had a DHL locally Lovely mosque though
  15. almost every home has electric, if only the same went for alarms ey
  16. Ditto! And I know at least 2 others before me have asked the same sort of questions. Compared to other trades I guess they see us as a small market?
  17. you may be able to sell it james ...... Alter you any closer to divulging the "other option"? i am worried about all of the packages, none seem great, below 10k anyway
  18. was it ever cleared up if they were returns or new units I presume new units as in the box,
  19. Bradford N hence a site survey??? And tbh Matt I prefer not to disclose information about signalling we use, this forum is far too "open" for me to divulge what types of signalling our clients have.
  20. When I was in London (ifsec) the most amazing thing was how amazing my phone was working We rarely get 3g down here. have you seen the map? just the major cities atm as far as I know. Maybe NOT BURNLEY
  21. I know you will not like this reply, but the fact is if someone does not know how to enter the engineer code they do not know how to change a battery. I strongly advise you contact an approved alarm installer that will have the experience to ensure nobody is killed or your house burnt down (worst case scenario's), or just simply to ensure the alarm system will work properly. A call out and battery will not cost much from a decent company. Whereas doing it cheap could cost you lots more indirectly look for a company that is ssaib or nsi approved in your local area.
