  1. D1ts are good for the price, d5ts are just damn good. Tvi is not as forgiving as analogue, dvrs are solid. Only 1 alarm receiver ip though so if your monitoring arc switch regularly its a no go. Cable faults putting 12v down the video line blow the input on the dvr.

  2. Some good answers here!

Fair play if you want to give it a go on your own, wish you the best of luck. But agreeing with ElecTech asking such basic questions almost seems like you've barely looked into it. I haven't had as much experience as most people on here but still have come across tons of people who have tried various ways of starting up. Almost all have failed. The ones who haven't only haven't due the people they no, who've managed to get them bread and butter work. Even now there barely breaking even. It's always nice to think about yourself starting up because you always think you could do so much better but it's such a big risk which will almost certainly end up going wrong. Guess it depends too on how much you wanna make, earning yourself a nice wedge or getting the big bucks.

But wish you the best of luck. I'd much rather keep learning, be the best I can be, own a house or 2 and go on a couple of nice holidays a year keeping the Mrs happy.

Tell me, in this industry, where would you work as an employee that you could afford a couple of houses, a couple of holidays a year and a happy mrs? Am I missing something? or are you talking about jumping over to sales?

  3. Hik built in mics are ****, at least on the fisheyes and the 2542fwd-is i have found, better going for the ones with the audio inputs and outputs and fitting an external mic. Just fitted a load of ds-2cd2142fwd-is with little white variable gain mics, quality sound off them. If you pick up a hum power the mic off a seperate psu. Any hik nvr will record audio.

2722fwd-is is a 2mp vf with audio io but i always find the fixed lens give a better picture

  4. Wireless cameras are almost always utter ***** unless you are spending a fortune on them, and even then they still need power wiring to them. Any decent installer can hide cables well but dont expect a decent job from a £499 taxdodger.

Please keep civil, banter is for the trade area this is the public area

  5. Not really an easy answer to that fault other than to say has there been any decorating or anything that might have disturbed or damaged the wiring occured in the last day or so?

    Or water ingress anywhere?

Not answering the phone is a bit poor imo.

You could try mta systems guide to silencing alarms, its on youtube.
