The bell box and dcom antenna come out at a proper height, so why would the same installer not bring the CCTV cables out at the same level? It doesnt make sense, plus I dont know any professional co that runs two separate cables to a camera most would use external grade Cat 5 and Baluns or shotgun. I would say the cctv is by someone that saw a picture once and now thinks theyre a installer.

All the alarmfast and some of the chubb cctv jobs i've ripped out recently have been done in alarm cable and seperate rg59. Lots of them didn't have individually fused outputs on the psu either just a bit of choc block inside the 5a elmdenes with each individual camera able to draw the full 5a down tha alarm canle in a fault condition. From the ones i witnessed first hand it was down to inadequate supervision and monitoring of subbies by branch managers who couldn't give a **** as long as no one was hassling them into doing some actual work.

  2. It's likely, as default on the enforcer panels if you enable sms it calls the castle host computer every i think fortnight or so on an 0844 number to download the sms message centre. Sms over pstn is getting quite unreliable these days anyway. By decent signalling i mean a dualcom or webway or similar product, something with a regularly polled monitored signal path.

  3. But the problem is the digi is dialling a premium rate number when the customer has been told it shouldn't be. Who's fault is that if not the company who installed and was up until now charging maintenance and monitoring?

am89 you will probably still see premium rate numbers on your bill, the texts are about 50p each and the panel dials pyronix at regular intervals on a premium rate number to check it has the latest sms server number. You will also find that sms over pstn is unreliable at best. I would go with decen signalling if the alarm is protecting anything important to you.

  4. I think they mean sticking in a digiair on dial capture or similar to get round their arcs 0844 number, either that or some numbnuts activated start chc sms uptate and doesn't know how to turn it off.

Op are you maybe resetting the alarm with the code or fob before the arc call you? If you reset it they will see you have reset it and treat it as an abort, a false alarm basically. If you have had a high number of false alarms due to user error the arc may increase the amount of time they wait before calling keyholders, called the filtering time, to wait and see if they receive an abort signal telling them it was just another false alarm. If the alarm goes off frequently either you have faulty equipment, incorrect installation or often user error. Whatever the cause you need to get it sorted as regular false alarms reduce the effectiveness of everyones alarms and causes annoyance.

Make all your correspondance with your company in writing or if its verbal follow it up with an email confirming what was discussed, and build a proper picture of what is going on, if it's systems failure you should be able to get a refund if it's operator error prepare to be hit with a bill.

oops gaz covered a lot of what i said while i had that half typed.

using tftp to upgrade is way older than 3 yrs. Ive only done it on phones

I meant the baseline hik firmware the w-box skinned firmware is based off of is 3 years out of date. If you try to upgrade with hik firmware it tells you it's the incorrect firmware for the device but if you tftp it it goes right on.
