My email is a gmail not a business one, I set it up when I bought my cameras from them so I don't get marketing emails. If the splitters are tat I won't use them
Sorry the dodgy website in your link looked as if it was the type that would use a gmail address, you should have done the same when signing up here LOL

Also if youre going to covertly advertise tat, its best you dont use the same email address as you website

Ubiquiti Wireless would be a better choice

any suggestions for a more modern Guardall Balmoral 5 replacement? Rough spec - work with 4 existing wired detectors (with the typical 2 resistive states, I know they're pretty common I replaced one a few years back with a newer model), and entrance keypad - like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155675281609?itmmeta=01HV4JYQMD4RVSTT8M3ZDSA709&hash=item243ef848c9:g:RboAAOSwwItkt8O7&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0AkKJK%2BpbAc7wa7SYZWtsI7I6bOhydC19uxloj1V1vkwvWur9gS5vgi3Osfpq5ilrLVCAxVYLb%2Bg3rHtL%2BQA5DaQvQJiIVAXIJHI%2FSpGEDCGchDYstUmQbcVgS4vdGzrn0dP%2Be7E9QzNq%2FP4Tst%2FDF026Z62cN2%2BPJ6KSX0BXS1AAlgJuGqZ5APvEpaSWSIFrTfu%2BhQLHzW%2FPXIdWuetXImSubbH%2B5ExxUqfUv%2Fs0KjtRL%2BsIwfANzN0WHiqrY2%2Fi1wouSTJLQkEjwugw81RS5I%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR576-pLZYw becoming quite valuable I see... with RJ45 ie. internet connectivity to send states to a designated website ???
Ideas?
Regards and thanks for all help on this one!
I think sometimes people try their luck with Ebay I can see anyone paying that sort of money for one when you can buy a new panel and keypad for a little more.
I cant recommend a panel as the ones we install are not really diy, but plenty of people seem to like Scantronic ION and its a brand that bin around for years

I gave it some thought......for about ten seconds

This is why to be admissible in court the recordings have to be in original format and watermarked. MP4 is okay for minor crimes where in most cases the crim puts his hands up when he sees the footage because he doesnt know the rules. But if you need evidence that sticks it must be in original format

You have just connected your fan to a relay I can't see that working if its a relay. Use your multimeter to see if the relay changes state or wire the power to the fan through the relay
As above the relay wont have power on it, its just a switch to make the fan work you need to put power to it, but I guess this is not your objective. If you dont have a meter put one side of the fan to 0v put the other side of the fan to n/o and put 12vdc to the common then test it.

So can the siren be deleted from the panel ,
and will that stop the siren tamper or not ?
I would say it would stop the panel tamper activating but not the sounder from alarming

The concern is the installer is liable if your system fails to perform.
Not only that if he tells the OP the engineers code, the the OP has the engineers code for all of his customers systems. this would leave customers vulnerable, its a bit like ford telling customers a back door into the programing of their cars can you imagine the consequences

Thank you James.
Do you have a favourite choice please?put a recorder in both buildings or use a ubiquity bridge

May be useful to someone that needs parts but doesnt want to go through the effort to buy a new system, but worth nothing to anyone in the industry I spend money skipping tat like that

hi All.
I know its an older system but Is there a way of adapting this system so I can get alerts when its activated., at moment if it goes off and I am out how do I know its been activated unless I'm home, Without subscribing to monitoring.
You used to be able to add a dialer but PSTN will be switched off soon so nobody is making them. There are GSM dialers available subscription to a mobile phone network required. You can by IP communicators but I am not sure that there are any that will allow you to diy it, and most have a subscription, the ones that are free are rubbish. As swb says if your not paying for someone to look after the server that monitors your alarm then someone is not going to look after it. There were a few free servers at one time, but every time they went down there was no rush to fix them, and most now charge for the service and to be fair they are fixed quicker. The 800l is a 30 year old panel now, maybe its time to get a proper alarm

That said that Vauxhall is probably a classic now according to Bangers and Cash.
Its a bit different with electronics though, back when the Guardall panel was new everyone had TV's with CRT tubes, and incandescent light bulbs, I cant see those becoming classics anytime soon

So what happened 6 years later?
Hopefully, a stand alone fire system and not what the topic says...
TBF its only gonna be a problem if theres a fire and a fatality....

£400 seems reasonable, my tyres costs circa £300 fitted, to begin with let alone getting a new one fitted on the motorway. There is a danger value and a callout cost and a convenience factor the more I think about it the more I think its a bargain.

Not totally, remember the insurance companies lost a lot of money through covid and with weather events too.
Yeah but I feel constantly shafted Efficacy and Liability October, Fleet January, office buildings and contents February, Home insurance March, Personal vehicle insurance June. Then there is all the travel insurance when I go either on Holiday or to China on business. Ive not made a claim in years and years full ncb on the car never made a home claim, the fleet insurance is probably the only thing Ive had to claim on in the last 10 years.

Infra red radiation is anything that sends out heat - basically has a temperature above around five degrees Kelvin - gives off infrared radiation. Therefore passive infra detector is looking for heat changes, but it is also looking for motion.

DSC is no longer sold in the UK not many people here would know that panel unfortunately

The front of the building is a resturant and bar area so coverage by 3 pirs (not crossing each other) is enough also as it's on a high street vibration on the windows was not an option.
I can only think looking at the images the guy was totally covered up limiting the amount of IR and as the beams were set on medium sensitivity I think was the issue. When the Police arrived (called by a neighbour) everything worked as it should as they went through the door as it was not unlocked.
HKC is very good Ihave hundreds out there, but I think for me it's an eye opener as to not get too complacement with the installation and tweek the system to be more sensitive.
For information the grading for Police was mainly for the PA and the intruder was not a priority, risk assesment and specification approved by insurers and logs of testing to monitoring station all ok.

Cut and past the same stuff twice. Infra red is the detection method not what the detector is looking for, infra red detector detects heat or infra red radiation. Its unlikely that anyone can cover themselves up enough not to give off any heat at all . The ambient temp of the room versus the temp of the person. Even if the person was wearing a foil suit and giving off no heat (unlikely) he would be interrupting heat sources in the room.
I would be looking a bit closer, what happens when you set the alarm and then walk in front of detectors?
Nothing of what you have said makes any sense its almost as if your making excuses for the poor performance of your design

Sounds a bit fishy, either someone walk tested the system and found blind spots, or the system was unset and the CCTV times have been adjusted to make it look like it was out of hours. The log logs when its armed and when its not Id be getting a print off and checking the CCTV very closely to make sure that the clocks are all correct. The only times Ive seen anything like it always turned out to be an inside job.

Thats because Ubiquity makes lots of stuff you just need a txer/rxer that suits your needs. But if you have power at the camera end then yiu could just use a POE as others have suggested
