No mention of one of the first muliplexed panels, the 2000 and the CATS coded alarm transmitters, Acorn at the time a great little panel, why did they have that dull green and brown colour scheme for their early panels like the 72

I'm not as old as you guys

But I remember the A&G BS80, The first panel I ever played with.

fiddled with some BS80 super's as well.

I came across an old metal cased logic four in a buttie shop last month

Service Engineer and all round nice bloke :-)

The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.

I've seen a few of the old Group 4 panels (various models - don't ask which ones) and have the displeasure of having to service these twice a year. Never get called out to them though.

Service Engineer

My opinions may not reflect those of my employer, managers, colleagues, customers, friends, family or pet rabbit.

Magpye try this, its taken from a shorrock programing guide.

Enter the prog mode

<> option 8 ent

<> cycle through keycodes

^ select keycode type

<> options OFF, 19 master, 20 normal, 21 all on, 22 area 1, 23 area 2,

24 area 1 on, 25 area 2 on,

^ selects option

Hope this helps, I have never been into the prog side of a 1600 so this is as

clear as mud to me. cheers

Top tip: if you ever catch fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror, because i bet thats what REALLY throws you into a panic and dont forget the one thing you cant recycle is wasted time.

The old 72 series panel was probably one of their best panels. Built to last. Although you open some of them up and a pile of sid boards or zone splitters would fall out in front of you. The other thing with Shorrock everything was always relays. I remember getting called out to a site and I asked the guy where his panel was and he said over there. It was a cupboard with a keyswitch and a couple of leds. Open the door and it was full of relay boards. What fun I had that night.

As for their newer stuff, I was one of the first to fit the 1600 panel up North along with the big 170 white basin bell box. Mind you it was easier and lighter to put up. 1600 had many problems to it like the final set button having a high resistance and locking out the keypad. 2000 & 2100 was an installers dream and a service mans nightmare. Easy for the installer to fit cats anywhere but try finding a fault when half your cats go RF failed. Had it once at a large supermarket was there most of the night and it turned out to be a cat that was no where near the circuits that went into fault.

Those were the days lol

cheers Kev

I'm enjoying this,

Sunthorne ACP-2D, Solfan 1100 Control, Radiovisor Monive Panels, how about some realy obscure panels - Brocks RAED, Brocks pre'74 with 'traffic lights', Mather & Platt 20 Series, Maxim Control Panel, Selmar (no, not the car alarm), YTA, Songuard, I could go on but I think I'll save a few for another day.

Perhaps we could reminisce about old detectors as well, a few to start you off >> Westool MWD, Cerberus Seismic Detector, Frowds Pulsonic USD System, Radartron Invisible Radar, that'll do for starters, your turn now.

PJF,

I'm sorry, thanks for that, I think I'll go and have a look rather than a phone call now, I'm not so sure about your instructions though, I think kgilly is nearer the mark with his suggestion, let you know next week.
