Yes or no. Sounder volume can be adjusted on an ADT galaxy panel.

Possibilities

think there a instant set for part but may have to turn off the EG hallway say if it on exit route

extras keypad upstairs and use instant set with hallway on

turn the speaker into a 12v sounder

num the speaker down with a 80-150 ohm resistor to a workable volume (comman trick on the old CandK 700L's and similar)

 EDIT just noticed James comment the high low sounder good shout.

Gives me "A=set and B=part ENT= Menu".

When I select B, I then get 'P1 P2 or P3 =OFF".

I select 1 and hit enter, then 30 second countdown with beeping starts.

Just one other observation. The entire audible alert is from the keypad itself, not from the internal siren box in the hallway. Quite impressive this tiny keypad can make so much noise!

Good question. I looked in the service book. P1 is downstairs sensors, P3 is upstairs but P2 is not listed against any devices.

Better get rid of whole thing , it's old scrap does a job temporarily, and if you have DIY skilz then install a scantronic ion 40

 

But depends on wiring if it's one of those galaxy that been installed with a common leg of sorts then don't bother you will get stuck

Obviously very much preference and no absolute answer, but any input on the following would be useful.

• Should I rip out the current wired sensors, or can I re-use them? I like the idea of not touching working sensors and wires that all run back to a central location. However, if the recommendation is put in new sensors at the same time as a new panel, then I will
• Is the scantronic ion 40 best choice for me? Are there any other panels I should consider? My previous home had pyronix enforcer (all wireless) and that was nice modern system
• If I was to install the ion 40, or an enforcer, could I DIY it? I'm fairly comptent with computing, and basic electrics and CCTV, but I've never installed an alarm panel previously. Is one more DIY friendly than the other, and can I do it without specialised tools/software which I'll likely not be able to get hands on
• Finally, any panels that have free remote notifications (via internet)? The pyronix had an annual app charge which if I can save on, would be nice

So any advice and recommendations welcome.

Depending on their age etc you could leave them in place. Being a galaxy they will currently be wired eol 1k 1k. Need to check your new panel will support that or you may need to chnage the jumpers/resistors inside the detectors.

Ion is a good panel but iirc the wireless side is 1 way (but im not sure never fitted one)

You can diy anything but im sure you have seen diy in your profession. Some or ok some are terrible

Be cautious with this. All apps running cost is either funded by product sales or fees. An alarm system notification cloud is a more critical system than say a lighting app or heating etc. If it goes down for a week it doesnt really matter. On an intruder alarm systm it matters a lot. Also free systems tend to be obsoleted quicker than fee based ones as additional income is required to fund it forcing new equipment to be installed and mroe ewaste. This is common in the home automation sector.
