Peter Perkins
Just now, Peter Perkins said: Is it advisable to change the transformer, in a Citadel XR2 House Alarm, if you’re not a qualified electrician? If so, can anyone provide guidance? PeterJames
there are no rules on any diy work if you are competent, its not like rewiring your house where it has to be certified Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/44339-transformer-replacement/#findComment-508050 Share on other sites
sixwheeledbeast
Replacing transformers wouldn't be general practice at all, you would replace the whole control panel. It's all down to competence with being able to connect and isolate the electrical/electronics if your DIYing. 1 Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/44339-transformer-replacement/#findComment-508051 Share on other sites
PeterJames
Just to add if you have a service contract on the system, then you may be in breach of the contract Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/44339-transformer-replacement/#findComment-508052 Share on other sites
Peter Perkins
All valued comments, appreciate the advice Peter! I have already purchased a suitable transformer, on the encouragement of someone in the know, so wanted to attempt the replacement myself. I wanted some neutral advice re the replacement in general. Can’t track any YouTube video’s about the job, do you know of any? Thanks Peter Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/44339-transformer-replacement/#findComment-508054 Share on other sites
sixwheeledbeast
It's not something I would expect people in the trade to be searching youtube for, also consider most would replace the whole panel too. I would imagine the only suitable transformer would be from another panel of the same type. The model is a rebranded "Accenta" if that helps your search any.
