DVR's with free DDNS

Now HiK have dropped the ddns service for this p2p ****, what are people's recommendations for DVR's that offer this? ADI budget stuff WBOX says it offers DDNS but that has also expired. I know Samsung offers the ipolis however it's about more pricey.

 

 

any thoughts? Opinions? 

Has DDNS expired? I thought it still worked and is free as long as you renew every 30 days.
 

You can (and we use our) own dynamic dns server, although not all DVR's support custom DDNS.

Hik connect also does ddns, however personally i would just use dyndns pro for all it costs, just charge customers an annual fee for it but waive the fee if they take a maintenance package.

Could be due to the fact that its HIK rebranded

Yep. If you use tftp you can even flash hik firmware to it as the w-box firmware is about 3 years out of date.

using tftp to upgrade is way older than 3 yrs. Ive only done it on phones

Yep I'd never even heard of tftp until I had to re-flash some Siemens (Openstage) IP phones from proprietary firmware back to SIP...

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

 

tbf I think 3cx uses it for some phones on its single button ug feature but needs changes to your dhcp server
