Help! fitting a new main panel board n need assistance!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone here can help! My mother's home alarm started some time ago to exhibit problems and now seems to be totally dead - quite possibly down to the panel. The alarm system itself appears to be an Accenta - possibly a g4/8 mini. It's difficult to tell as the panel box is plain apart from a red light. I have removed the A.D.E panel board though - and purchased a direct exact working replacement from eBay for fitment (the code on the processor is identical). The alarm was first fitted in 2001 i believe. I'll try and give you the most information I can so you can possibly help. My goal is to fit the new panel board and set up the new passcode ready for my mother to continue using her alarm as she did before.  Below the first picture is a very close example to what I unwired/removed. The panel box and battery location look almost the same too. The second picture is of the exact replacement panel I will be using. This is just to give you an idea.

So, assuming the installation procedure is to wire exactly as the old panel was, then connect battery, then connect to mains. What then? I am unsure as to what happens as soon as i reconnect the power. The alarm may suddenly go off, or go into some operator/engineer mode...I am totally unsure.

Assuming that my procedure is correct and the panel works fine  - is anyone able to assist me in what to do as soon as power reconnects, and how to reset, and then set a new alarm code for the system? If anyone is also able to link me to a correct Manual/Online guide that might help me also, that would be reeeeally useful! Thankyou in advance, and I hope I've  been clear.

That picture is just an example for the board, I don't believe that's actually a battery in the corner. When I speak about the battery I'm referring to the back up battery that provides power in the event of a mains power outtage.

Oh sorry I've just seen you've circled something at the top- what are you circling?

Ahh I see- you've circled with the blow out occurred- this is just an example of the kind of board set up, how it looks in the panel box. It's not my actual board.

You will also need to programme it, not allot to do on that but you could easily Google it yourself?

I may have to do that then- ill try and get the exact model number and go from there.

its a bit confusing that you post a picture of something that you dont have? in the pic  highlighted its most likely been cooked by a faulty battery. did you also get a new battery to go with the control board?

it will need programmed.should be fairly simple to do once you have the install manual for it and know what each zone is for

I posted an example of what appears to be an identical panel box, and panel - so people know roughly know what kind of set up my mother has. There's no model printed on the panel box itself, so I cant state what model I have. If i had  - someone might have been able to link me to an exact user manual. I forgot to take a photo of the panel in situ in my mothers loft - so I thought id get a google image of a close approximation to what model my mum has. Thanks for advice, it seems I just need the user manual and to see if there's a 'set up for first time' page, or 'engineer mode' or something. if worst comes to the worst, ill just pull the power. I just wanted to know if there was anything i was missing before i connect up.

you will need the installation manual, not the user manual. minor difference, but one will be very little help with programming it

haha sorry, i meant the installation manual. Although iirc I've seen a few user manuals that offer a lot of sections on re-programming.
