you should still get a wee router, something like a tplink 3420, then stick a dongle in the usb with a payg 3 simcard with £30 or so on it and set the router for 3g failover and spoof the mac on the wan port and you have yourself a nice bit of connection path redundancy, and you can change servers to your hearts delight and not have to worry about nics etc.

Virgin have programmed the Modem to the new Mac now. I have ordered an upgrade so hopefully the problem will be no longer soon
