Veritas Excell Rkp Problem, Please Help

Featured Replies

Hi, Ive powered down my alarm panel, and the alarm went off. I then opened the panel and disconnected the battery to stop the internal sounder. The siren continued for 20 minutes and then stopped. A few hours later I replaced the battery connections and replaced the lid for the tamperand then I went to power it back up, but it kept beeping( didnt count the beeps but will in daylight tomorrow) and then armed itself. The rkp wouldnt accept my code, or the engineers code. It wouldnt accept anything although the digits were beeping when pressed.

I powered it down again, disconnected the battery (12.8V) and reversed this process a couple of times and the same thing is happening.

There has been no work/alterations on the previously problem free alarm system. I have powered down/up the alarm system in the past and not encountered this problem.

The key pad says; full set suite

                              Zones............

None of the zone numbers are showing up. (not too sure if they should?)

Has anybody came across this problem before?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

Scott

What current do you have in the battery?

12.8v doesn't mean much. ( came across one today with 12.6v and 0.1ah ) almost couldn't powered the tester.

Try defaulting the panel ( assuming you've got the manual - we can't supply that here)

As Alarm Protection says, try the default codes, those panels have a habit of defaulting if a battery is dud

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

How old is the battery?

Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.

Alarm protection, What do you mean by defaulted itself? Do you mean has it went back to factory settings? Will the system then have to be progrmmed again if this is the case?

Yes ive got the manual and tried the original user code, and engineer code, and nothing worked.

The battery is approx 5 years old.

cheers for quick replies guys.

Power down then apply power. Try and put code in without battery and lid installed.

If this works and silences alarm do a reading over the positive and neg of the battery terminals.

If nothing happens then try defaulting the panel and reprogramming again.

You will have to re programme the system again from factory reset.

I would also check the on board fuses.

The thing I have found with the veritas is once a problem starts then others follow, maybe in 1 week or one month. How old is the panel?

!

Ok cheers I will try this tomorrow.

Do you mean do a current reading or voltage over the terminals of the battery?

Ive checked the fuses and theyre ok. The panel is approx 5 yrs old.

Ive tested the battery with my fluke on current and im getting 0.06-0.018 fluctuating. Should I be getting a decent current?

The panel is approx 5 years old

Not sure your testing the current correctly,

Putting a meter on current and using a meter across the battery is shorting it out and is dangerous,

To find the current you'll need a battery tester such as ACT GOLD.

But it it's 5 years old it probably needs replacing.
