energysolutions
I would go Samsung personally. Most with Apps work fine with phones, as you say its the port forwarding that catches others out. IIRC no, it allows you to "dial" into the DVR. Oxo
You can offsite recording, James knows more about this than me. Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/33619-samsung-dvrs/page/2/#findComment-294115 Share on other sites
digitalwitness
If the Alien and Samsung are the same price then I'd lean towards the Samsung. But I'm to sure if Samsungs line up has changed recently, traditionally the Samsungs would cost more, made in Korea Versus china, etc. Aliens are made by the worlds biggest DVR manufacturer (unless they also changed manufacturer recently) and traditionally Samaung didn't make their own DVRs but that said, they are built to their requirements. A bit like cheap and cheerful versus higher quality so if the price is the same, well...... Stick to the h.264 models though, mpeg4 is very old news at this stage. Personally, I wouldn't spend a penny on analog at this time but that's just my opinion. I feel that those technologies (whilst are the way of the future) are overkill for my application and would most likely be outside the cost remit but I`m happy to be proved wrong....... Is there a noticeable difference in quality between CIF and D1? From what I can tell the Samsung SRD 440 (which is H264) can only do CIF but the SHR 6042 will do D1 (but is MPEG4) Which is the better bet? james.wilson
There is a huge difference between cif and d1 but as digital witness says I wouldn't touch either anymore. D1 is 0.3 mega pixel so you can imagine what it looks like vs 2 mega pixel cameras securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. breff
The SRD is a newer version of the SHR, the SHR isnt Iphone/Android compatible, the SRD is compatible providing the firmware is newer than 1.06 IIRC, although firmware is upgradable via USB The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! So with that in mind would something like this be a better bet? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-CCTV-Kit-SDE-3003-4-Channel-real-time-DVR-with-2-High-Resolution-Camears-/160894908783?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item257615796f Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/33619-samsung-dvrs/page/2/#findComment-294122 Share on other sites
digitalwitness
The SRD-440 can do D1 according to the spec sheet. With regards to HD-SDi and current pricing you are right but it that is going to change very quickly. I am looking at this from a trade perspective and not a once off purchase. Thats good to know - I was sure it was CIF but now I`m beginning to wonder if I would be better going with the Samsung IP kit as it is similar cash but comes with two cameras - I suppose the big question is how good the cameras and ultimately playback quality are Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/33619-samsung-dvrs/page/2/#findComment-294125 Share on other sites
