Galaxy 60 Rio Psu

Featured Replies

I need to extend my Galaxy 60 alarm system to add 3 IR detectors in a games room /workshop which is at the end of my garden c.90m from the main panel in my house.

Will I need a RIO with a PSU/backup battery or just a regular Rio.?

Also is a Galaxy 2-20 Rio/PSu compatable with the Galaxy 60.

Hoping someone can help.

cheers

always better to have local power, yes.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

I'd always prefer to install a powered RIO at that sort of distance, eliminates volt drop, as well as gives a degree of separation between the main panel and the RIO. I'd ensure it has battery backup, but beware that most shed installs will have a RCD installed at the house end, so if that trips you're likely to end up with an outage down there if there's no battery.

wont come out of eng with no battery fitted?

agreed local power is preferable but if you run a large enough cable just for the 12v then you could run that from the panel. Assuming it has the capacity
