Hi James

I'm a Lead IP Solutions designer for a major Telco and its mainly Cisco products that we use.

Can you give me a bit more info on what your trying to achieve and a rough budget and I'll try to help identify a suitable product for you.

regards

Anthony

Antsplan,

I was at a customers house today and he had a flood which took out his smoke sensor and a Cisco unit. I think its a unit so he can get wifi round his house etc.

He asked that when he purchases a new one will it have to be programmed as a unit number for it to be recognised in his system or does he just replace and start up the unit. I didnt have a clue but said i would find out. Do you know if its just replace or programmable. Its a thin white unit with the Cisco green round light in the centre.

cheers

!

AP, sounds like a linksys "cisco" home product ?

JW, I assume a 800 series is man enough for the task or is something more demanding need ?

AP I suspect Mr Happy is correct, however I have no real knowledge of these Linksys boxes, apologies. I'm typically working with boxes which run iOS and are programmable from a command line.

To James the OP, I'm really keen to hear what you are doing with QoS. I'm a QoS specialist and can def help you with that, if required.

cheers A

I'm just going to throw this out there. If it's QoS you're after then you might want to look into somethin like pfSense.

I currently use a DrayTek in bridge mode with a pfSense box. It's way overkill but it's solid as a rock :)
