driller, if it were me, id use a UPS, and not touch the dvr at all.

I can see the point if you have a bottom end dvr that has an external 12v psu... but if you do have a problem with it and you want to return it.... and you have cut off the psu... you might have a problem or 2.

UPS IMO is a good idea for all dvr's anyway due to the clean supply they then get, better than any surge plug!

Which is why I asked if it was a 12V machine with an in line soap on a rope type PSU.

Which usually all have the same type plug that is available anywhere for a few pence. I wouldnt dream of suggesting that anyone without the neccesssary skils open up the machine.

Ah sorry Subs I spectacularly missed the bit where you asked if it was a 12V unit, I thought you were talking about the cameras.

My DVR has an internal PSU with an IEC 13 plug going into the back of the unit.
