February 20, 200917 yr comment_225504 yeah but it will be more expensive and not as good. was basically all i was saying. IMO the gsm modle for any panel should only be used when a landline is not available. I also dont like the use payg sims on security systems securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. February 20, 200917 yr Author comment_225507 Yep, sure is!Upside is that it doesn't need ongoing monitoring charges and can work from a PAYG sim card IF you don't want proper 24-hour monitoring but 24-hour monitoring is always going to be the better option. Slightly disagree with redbull in that having a GSM module will give a type of dual-path signalling but without the advantage of the secure network paths of a conventional Dualcom or Redcare GSM unit. In that case, I maybe better off with the Galaxy 2-44, even if I don't go for the GSM module now, at least in the future I have a choice between adding a GSM module with a one off charge OR monitoring with ongoing charge, especially that the difference in price between the g2-20 & g2-44 is not massive looks like the G2-44 is more versatile & therefore future proof. G2-44 enables more zones (probably not an issue for you) and can have a GSM module so yes is better - 'future-proof'? ... well ... would like to think so. February 20, 200917 yr Author comment_225524 Could someone please confirm this: I can use the Galaxy G2-20 or G2-44 With Speech Dialer AND receive Texts messages at the same time. Or are they mutually exclusive? Or are they mutually exclusive? G2-20 or G2-44 both has SMS text messaging. With the addition of a signalling output wire loom you can connect to a speech dialler BUT beware, there will be conflict if you are trying to do both at the same time on a single telephone line - think about it, it can only deal with one thing at a time. You can do the SMS text messaging via a GSM module and autodialling at the same time on the telephone line but it wouldn't be my way of doing it. So It is either: 1-Speech Dialer 2- SMS using land line (Already built into the panel) 3- SMS over GSM - by adding a GSM module Which could work in combination with 1 OR 2 above. Thank you very much RJB Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/27033-battle-of-the-control-units/page/5/#findComment-225533 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 True Would you know if there is a wireless smoke detector that could be linked to the G2-20? February 20, 200917 yr comment_225571 I would say grade 2 monitoring go for the 490x Hardwired zones plus wireless zones via the expander.....carbon monoxide, smoke, flood etc and if you want a detector outside you can go for the wireless watchout. Bigger panel is the 595 series and after that the 800 series and both do dualcom monitoring etc. Apart from that go for the galaxy lol! !
