never used an SD but love the full blown digi sprite and the eco units.

concept pro vxm4 dvr from videcon will do all you need and more and not expensive.
DVR from Avermedia also very good and the price is OK

ive just installed an avtech dvr here at home, and although took some setting up for the dns side of netowrk works a treat, better than some of other dvrs weve trialled. cheers

Thanks for all your help guys! I think I will go for a Concept Pro VXM4B-8, this seems to be well recommended and has a good guarantee.

You say that your parents are oldies...well I would go for the DM ECO, software writers are english which makes life simple compared to some of the chinese units out there.

Very simple to setup and use...just make sure you dont have any cameras that go on and off or you will be replacing the hard drives in no time, they just dont like it.

p.s You should pick one up on ebay for

id agree and say the eco is an ok unit as a bottom end one. Not sure about ebay though, one of things i would never buy second hand is anything with a hard drive.

quality is good all round unit, solid build, ive installed the 1000gb unit but it depends how much you wnat it to record for.

dns works fine, and is good as playback is password protected if password setup used.
