moneyhunster Posted November 21, 2008 Share Posted November 21, 2008 I have a gas yard which is on a poorly lit area on an industrial estate, i want to install cctv as with the price of gas rising my products are more and more at risk, i had a couple of visits last year and lost a few 19kg bottles, im worried this year i might loose more. My question is would i be better off using 500w flood lights to light the yard or use infra red lighting so as to not warn the theives that i might be on the way to greet them. Also proper ii illuminators have lens so for example a 10% 500w will be good for 150m. moneyhunster Posted November 23, 2008 Author Share Posted November 23, 2008 looks like you have a high fence, what about a couple of big dogs we have been down that route before, we decided it was too cruel to leave a dog in the yard all the time. theives soon worked out they could still steal from the yard by getting someone to keep the dog occupied in the front of the yard while others climbed over from the rear. moneyhunster Posted November 23, 2008 Author Share Posted November 23, 2008 because im storing LPG i have to be very carefull with access and electric fences. sparks can cause explosions. Im more keen to catch the ones involved as im pretty sure its one or 2 people. I have a wireless outdoor alarm with a couple of PIR sensors, they link up to a control panel which lets me know by phone if someone is in the yard, i just want a view of their car and face. i'd be very happy with that!! The last Gas dealer on the estate had it worse than me, they kept cutting his chain link fence and helping themselves. We have a 6" concrete wall, they just like climbimg over it!
