Wired Alarm System Query

Recommended Posts

Are those quotes from approved companies?

Nowt wrong with either panel to be fair we dont use either but not because there is anything against either. I think the 9651 new keypad looks better than the eurosec too.

Depending on how they are going to cable it will decide if the wireless system is better. Id probably go for the wireless with the little detail we have so far.

Both from Nacoss Gold approved installers.

cabling will be minimal on both, i.e. running between gripper rods and underneath carpets i think. control panel either in airing cupboard or in garage.

so i take that the CPX is a decent wireless alarm system (apart from ugly keypad as stated by a few posters)??

cheers

the cpx is a good piece of kit....yeah the keypad may look naff to some, but is that not just opinions....anyway ask if there is an alternative keypad, because there is apparently the 490 profile keypad works on the cpx.....

with a good installer, you will not notice the wires......

airing cupboard may be a little warm imo, if there is a boiler in there, if not its fine.....

both prices seem fine to me....

thanks for the information, i am not too fussed about the keypad, as long as they work and will last. i will try to ask if they have got another keypad that looks better..... but i am glad to hear that CPX wireless system will do the job and is as reliable...

most probably the control panel is going into the Garage. does that

some advice from the other side of the fence..

it will be a well calculated price, with not much room for error..

look at these facts and you may begin to understand..

1) cost of fuel has got wings on and is still flying.....

2) closely followed by insurance costs...... did you know that if you carry old batteries in your van then this is reflected in your insurance cover and also if you transport money....

3) personnel still have to payed, even when there is no work.....

3a) public is tigthening their purse strings, which comes down to necessaties first...food etc..

4) electricity going up, water rates , council rates, council tax, they all rising and want their pound of flesh......

things that do not go up as they should, the working mans wages, most do not even keep up with the 4% rate of inflation.....

i apologise.......last thing.. be nice to the man/woman doing the job, he/she is not responsible for the price, but is responsible for the install and the quality of the work done..

thanks for the advice kka, especially i dont know about the battery insurance until now. i always treat anyone who comes along to do a job very nice, like me, they are trying to earn a living, doing they best they can. so why make life difficult for them??

i think i've got some reasonable quotes here, so i will make a decision soon, but i am inclining towards the CPX hybrids... (nothing against the scannys)

imo a good choice, but there again the competition is also worth its merit.....

think about this... if a company fits gear then they must stand by the gear, for years to come.....most companies will fit to high standards because there reputation depends on it. there is no better recommendation then a happy customer. and imo ,you are only as good as your last job....

make your choice on what suit you best.. cost, panel etc

so apart from looking at the pretty badges on the papework also ask what specialist equipment above a drill/driver they will have to hand to hide your cables expertly, and how experienced the engineer responsible for you install will be.

neat cabling will be affected by the engineer and his arsanal of tools he is equipped with, there are tools that allow access to chipboard flooring one is a router attachment called a 'routabout' and very simple to use, there is also a tool (which carpet fitters also use) to make a gap under existing skirting boards (or under doors without removing it), so ideal for not running cables under the carpets :bruce_h4h: .

i carry both these tools and many many more besides, i also have over 40 years experience. but i'm not in any inspectorate and a small' one man band', so those boys who are in an inspectorate and would venture as being better than me because they are in one, should then also carry even more superior equipment than i do (well i would think so and wouldn't you  ).

so time for a deep breath then perhaps!!!

have a routabout in specilist tools to be signed out but we dont use them any more as over the yers they settle and you end up with a circular dip in your carpet and the wear marks really show. and using a circular saw to make a groove that long can weaken the floor unless its along a joist. again be very careful with either.

but while i personally dont agree with alan generally i would say there are some damn fine unapproved installers such as alan..
