I don't recommend using any ISP provided router if your tech savvy enough to manage your own.

Yes stuff needs updating but more likely it will be discontinued or never done.

Auto firmware updates could be an option but that would be undesirable solution IMO. What's to say that isn't exploited in the future somehow, or it borks up and bricks the device at a time of need.

You say "smart security" but any internet connected device has a risk and if your device is hosting a service you will be more at risk.

Issue is it costs money for this stuff but people want those free appz.

I prefer using non smart home things for security use

Most of the Modern and Thorn stuff I have ripped out where the colours H said TBH, there will never be a standard even sometimes within companies as they will takeover other systems.

You could argue that the wiring regs harmonised all the colours for DC and our 12v circuits should be Brown +ve and either Grey or Blue -ve depending on if the supply is referenced to earth since then... but where is the Grey conductor unless you use 12c?

Either way colours are irrelevant best to paint with terminal descriptions than colours.

Some old school engineers when cable was relatively expensive would change the cable size and colours at every connection point so what's a orange and brown pair on a 8c maybe blue and yellow on a 4c two devices later...

    On my installs i use

    green +

    White -

    Red/blk tamper

    Yellow/blue circuit

I use this as alot of installs i upgrade still use 4 core cable

shock sensors have a 1st to latch,

in these primitive pre mobile phone days... alarm men used to drill a little hole in the cabinet & fit a push to break switch which removed power to the vipers making them reset....

I recommend getting a proper alarm co. to fit a proper alarm ?

Hey im only 16     i can't even operate a vhs player

Like sixwheeledbeast said hae the vipers been reset, are any of the vipers got a led lit on it, on the older panels theres normally a reset button try pressing it and trying to set

There is no reset button on the scanny  91  to reset the panel you enter the user code twice   and tbh these panels are bulletproof so its unlikely the panel is damaged (its actually one of my favourite panels because of thier reliability) However i would reccomend changing the 7Ah battery inside

Had an alarm system fitted years ago by an electrician friend. Everything was working fine for many years, until about 4 years ago. I got a phone call at work from my partner, saying the alarm was going off, and wouldn't stop. A spark on our job asked me what make it was. He then said to press #### as a default code. I phoned her back, she pressed ####, and it stopped, phew!

I then became very ill a few days later, and have spent the last few years in and out of hospital. Anyway, i was told that the alarm was going off at random times of day (just internally). She was doing the #### and it sorted it. The alarm hasn't been getting used for four years.

I bought a new battery, and put it in.

How do i punch my original code into the alarm, now that #### has been getting used for ages (just to shut the thing up)? I tried original code earlier. Absolutely nothing happened. Do i have to press something to reboot the system? It is an old panel, with the rectangular keypad buttons, rather than round ones. Power is lit red. Day is lit green, but they keypad, which from memory used to light up green, doesnt seem to now.

It seems that the code was never  changed from default   i don't recall any accenta keypads using square keys  it may be a concept panel

    To change the code

    Press prog

    Enter your old code

    Press 7

    Enter new code

    Press reset twice

Hi  everyone , to be honest I dont work in UK but I have sign in this forum , because in my country(Bulgaria) companies mainly use -2 brands - Paradox and Teletek, however now I am looking for some recomendations for outdoor sensors( the same will be use on teracce of the last floor apartment in city building).Do you know is this model of pyronix TMD15 (Pir/MW) could be used outdoor?Otherwise I probably will use Paradox Dg85, but he is only pir and in the hot summers( >40°C) it doesnt work so well.

    Its the pyronix XDL12TT

Reading the instructions it would appear the internal battery needs to be enabled. Could this be the issue? The tamper line is providing 0v, confirmed by 12v reading between it and +12v. Could a defective internal battery be the problem

Texecom odyssey boxes dont monitor the battery
