Makes a change from the code being written on the keypad in permanent marker.......

Went to a holiday park (large national on behalf of Hentland) to do emergency lighting. They had a keypad right behind the reception facing the public with the code written on in marker.  I was trying to workout if they were that dumb or if it was a fake number to fool intruders?

  2. Bloody customers,

We sent a request to a site main contact asking to update / confirm their keyholder list via the secure area of our website.  This morning we get an email from the main contact copying in ALL users on their email with their arc password and their alarm PIN!

Knowing most customers this will also be the PIN for all their credit & debit cards.

Is it really so hard to follow simple instructions on an email?

    ServiceM8 - anyone tried this?

    Sure it's free!

Only if you do under 20 jobs per month

    >20 is *41p per job thereafter (other tiers available)

*0.50 USD conversation correct at time of posting

  4. I had one that was doing some strange things, we ordered a replacement RKP as we thought this might be the issues.  It turned out to be the power supply, one of the caps had let the blue smoke out.

Could be the same problem?  Although the transformer is separate the PSU is unfortunately located on the main board.

  5. The battery should be ok I suspect you've wiped the idiot diode out.  I haven't fitted one of these panels in a few years and don't have a schematic or PCB layout to hand to be 100%.

[Please do not recommend member commit fraud, regardless of the sales outlet, thanks]

Wonder if anyone has installed 2 or 3 of these ADE Simple set readers in one installation? Can you learn a single keyfob to all 3 readers or do you need to have keyfobs for each one? Hope it's not the latter!

You don't need separate fobs for each reader you can use the same one on all three.  These are stand alone units (in so far as remembering the fob hex code) that only store the fob locally not at panel level, like other systems.

  7. What is it with CCTV suppliers?
At least once or twice a day we get a telephone call from various CCTV "suppliers" all wanting to take an order.

Some we've had a look at but to be honest we just tend to stick with Hikvision from our preferred local wholesaler and they are cheaper and we know we can rely on them.

One spoke to one of the lads priced up a system using there "alien" range which came in twice the price of Hikvision... Now we can't get rid of them "oh but our products are top of the range and award winning, so much better than Hikvison".

There are two other persistent companies that again won't take no for an answer.

We don't get randoms phoning up trying to flog  Intruder, Fire, Access or any electrical install stuff... so why CCTV?

  8. Turbocad

Autocad..... If you've got money to waste

SEE used to do a free electrical version which I'm sure included Fire icons but I've been told they no longer do the free version.

Photoshop.... Sounds silly but sometimes it works better than other solutions

I ddnt think the gen 4 could do engineer reset of tamper?

    I'm sure you can.

I think it's an option Flag 1 option 3 according to my notes... but they might be wrong.

Funnily enough we replaced one (with a euro mini) a couple of weeks ago where the caps in the supply rectification section had let the blue smoke out.  Hadn't touched one for a few years before then.

  11. With most of these type DVR's you just need to open port 80 in the network router and point it to the IP address of the DVR (192.168.?.?)

Port 80 is the universal http port and it's the port this website is using.

P2P is probably Peer 2 Peer and without know the DVR and what it's trying to achieve with P2P I don't think it is of use in this instant.
