  1. Yep, I am 80% sure I am going to push the button on Alarm Master Mobile now. My logic, it's going to reduce admin and save a head on the payroll. As they say, time will tell!
  2. I have been playing with gocanvas and device magic. The later works well, fill a form in on the app and it auto exports into a word doc and emails to you. If I am honest, I can still write a docket quicker!
  3. Google VSI-pro Used them before for just that on weighbridges. Normally reads ASCII text from the weighbridges units
  4. Just to conf Just to confirm, you are opening up a watering hole for travelling alarm engineers on the WSM junction?
  5. That it is...unless Cornwall has been moved recently Yes, fitted one the other day actually. Fairly straight forward although I wasn't sure what to do with the cable I dragged in so cut that off! Worked well, only thing that caught me out, an no doubt others also was it taking a zone on the panel which is a bit of a bummer.
  6. This sounds like a good work around...take it that it works well for your guys? Mind me asking how many engineers/jobs sheets you send a week? My thoughts were more to the smaller companies and start ups tbh.
  7. It's a real catch 22 isn't it. I do really hate AlarmMaster, it's so dated and nothing is straight forward on it!! In fairness when I had a second look at Clik and the new Clik Jobs app it looked pretty slick (not used it fully though) but it's just too geared to the sparky. Did speak to Clik and suggest a version geared to our game would sell well at their price structure but they didn't really seem to be interested. The other option I played around with, all be it not a full solution was www.devicemagic.com which actually worked great for making a PDF version of a call docket, but that was it just a PDF with no database integration.
  8. Okay, like I guess all AM users I have a real love hate relationship with mine! My situation is that I could really do with a part timer in the office to keep track of the CM/PM dockets etc .BUT in the back of my head I have a niggling thought that AM Mobile may save me some admin time, enough to not need a second pair of hands... So Question is.... Does anyone else use it? - General thoughts about it please? Do you think you recoup the deployment cost in saved time? Has anyone managed to customise the dockets, the basic AM ones are a bit basic looking? (examples welcome!) Windows, Android or Iphone, which do you think is the best platform to use it on? No doubt this will bring a mass of conflicting opinions but welcome any comments, good or bad! Smithers
  9. I have to say we don't do the 3rd copy for retention in the book...can see it both ways. But really not sure about leaving a pad full of copy dockets, what if the book were to be "miss placed" bit of a security issue~??? Argh, yes, good point! "anyway you can run a survey on here" ;-)
  10. Bingo! For us its Top Copy Office - Bottom Customer for the very reason that in my eyes (and I am not a legal eagle ) ) the top copy will always be the most readable and I guess its legal to a degree. Thanks folks! Btw, anyway you can run a pole on this forum?
  11. Having a ongoing debate with another industry pro ) NCR, Top copy - Office of Customer?? Interested to see what others do. Rich

  15. I am eco conscious though, i recycled it after to jot down a job number ;-)
  16. I used that to write "Engineer on Call @ Mc Donalds" on the dash ;-)
  17. I stood on the manual to reach the panel, left the steps in the van ;-) In fairness I did have a quick flick though the manual on the iPad but couldn't spot it...hence the call to Galaxy tech support! bit disappointing with the 43min hold time, had that a couple of times recently with them. I had a suspicion it was outputs 0001-0008 but thought it best check before I drove to site. for your quick response. Richard
  18. Hi All, Firstly sorry, this I guess should be in trade but awaiting approval. I have a Galaxy 96 with the Stu Header Lead, A232. Can anyone advise how you go about programming the triggers for this lead or what the pins are programmed as by default? Assuming they can be programmed the same way as an output? Did try a call to Galaxy tech today but gave up after 43mins on hold! Richard
